10 years old today! 10/10/10 was our first day in business. It was a Sunday, so it made sense to wait until Monday - but I love numbers, so I was drawn to that ...10/10/10 date. That Sunday, we had an open mat with a few friends and family, and the journey began. Needless to say, the road was rough. Plenty of ups and downs but perseverance is my middle name. (Or stubborn, but ya - same thing). There was more than one time along the way when any sane human would’ve given up. Clearly I’m not that. TBH, you can’t be sane and accomplish anything awesome anyway. You’ve gotta have a few screws loose to think big things are possible, and I do. I was a blue belt when I opened this place. Ya - a friggen BLUE belt. You don’t have to wonder whether or not I was crazy. I was. But I genuinely believed I could build it up. I knew I couldn’t do it without the right people supporting me along the way, like Rosie, Brett, Cecil, etc., but I believed that if I built it, they would come. And they did. And they stayed. And here we are. 10/10/20. Now I’m a black belt with the greatest legend in the sport as my professor and the most awesome coaching staff in the biz. There’s not enough time in the day to individually thank everyone who contributed to this dream coming true - but just trust that if you’ve ever graced my gym - I thank you and I love you. You’re the reason we’re still here. You’re the reason Esteem Jiujitsu is the go to place for grappling in our area. You’re the reason we will continue to grow and do great things.
