Have a Happy St. Patrick's Day

We are sad to say on March 4th, Rosa Ruiz Passed Away. Rosa was a big part of our club. She was a Past President and helped during her year get the Rotary clock on Grand and Broadway put up. She was Loved by Everyone with her bubbly personality. She later became a member at the original Escondido Rotary Club and made such great friends between the two clubs. She loved our Annual Deep Pit BBQ and especially liked every Christmas to sit on Santa's lap at ECCDC. She will be missed very much from all of us, but never forgotten.

Our Clubs Charter Member Lloyd Holt Passed Away on February 21st. Lloyd was all about his Family as all who knew Lloyd knows how close they all are. He also had a second family with his Rotary Club. In the picture below, you will see the gazebo he built at Kit Carson Park as a Rotary project. Other Rotarians pitched in but it was Lloyd that made it happen and really built it. He was also a great cook, he and daughter Lori made some great breakfast dishes at the Escondido Child Community Center for when Rotarians were there to work a project. He enjoyed the fellowship at our annual Deep Pit BBQ fundraiser every year. His sense of humor was always appreciated to give you a good laugh. We will all miss him very much. Love you lloyd, from your Rotary Family.

Rotarian President Elect Ray sang by Zoom to our club for a Valentines meeting on Friday. He sang and played his guitar for all to enjoy. He also is using his singing for health benefits to others for those needing it like for dementia or depression. Happy Valentines everyone.

Escondido East Rotarian's had a small meeting at sunset in Escondido at Cordiano Winery outdoors tonight. Great time with fellow Rotarians. We had mask except for the quick photo. Wine was great, the pizza and awesome views. Discussing a project on Grand Avenue our club will be possibly painting a concrete barrier you see on the streets so restaurants can be outside safety. No club meeting Friday the 30th. If you want to be a driver for Thanksgiving meals for the Home Bound Seniors on Thanksgiving around noon, contact Darol Caster.

This week at Rotary we had Jim Ambroso with Escondido Disposal Co. come speak to our club about food waste recycle coming to a curb near you soon. Jim Ambroso has worked in the solid waste and recycling industry for over 35 years. In March of this year, Jim joined EDCO as General Manager for their north San Diego County operations. The recycle process of food will generate enough natural gas to use in all their trucks around San Diego County. If you already have the green trash cans for your yard clippings, the food will go right with it, sounds yucky but they have some ideas to help educate the public.

Rotarian Lori Holt Pfeiler talked about the upcoming event benefiting the Escondido Neighborhood Healtcare in Escondido. Our club will be participating in the zoom dinner event fundraiser. Outdoor Rotary meeting went great. So nice seeing faces in person again. Our new President Logan Stuard did a great job setting this lunch up, can only have a certain amount of people, was great to eat and have Fellowship. Our Guest Speaker was Tina Inscoe, she is running for City Council in Escondido. She has a big passion for the city she loves and the community.
