Escalon Police Department 03.05.2021

On the evening of 3/12/21, Officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Jackson Avenue for a domestic violence incident. Upon speaking with the victim, she stated that Bobbie had forcibly taken their shared minor child and locked himself in the residence. She also stated that Bobbie had threatened to kill himself, the victim, and their child. Escalon Officers made several attempts to contact Bobbie via telephone, however, he did not answer. The San Joaquin County Sheriff'...s Department was contacted for assistance and their SWAT Team and HNT was activated. After several hours, Bobbie came out of the residence and surrendered himself without incident. Neither Bobbie nor the child suffered any injuries. Bobbie was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail for domestic violence, criminal threats, kidnapping, and child abuse. His bail was set at $750,000.00. The Escalon Police Department wants to extend its thanks to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department for their quick response and assistance that led to a peaceful resolution.

In the early morning hours of 3/11/21, Officer Zambrana spotted a vehicle driving on Miller Avenue towards Escalon Avenue. The vehicle's registration was expired and it was diplaying false tabs, so he conducted a traffic stop on the vehcle. The driver was identified as Jose Dominquez, 40 years old, from Stockton. There were two passengers, who provided fake names, but were later identified as Jose Aquilar, 31 years old, and Meliton Hernandez, 35 years old, both transient. ...In the vehicle and on their persons, Officer Zambrana located burglary tools commonly associated with theft of catalytic converters. He also located drug paraphernalia. All three were subsequently arrested for possesion of burglary tools and conspiracy to commit a crime. After Aguilar and Hernandez were positively identified, they were also charged with providing false information to a peace officer. All three were booked into the San Joaquin County Jail. Hernandez is being held on $145,000.00 bail, Aguilar is being held on $115,000.00 bail, and Dominguez was released from custody.

Escalon Police Department 05.03.2021

In the early morning hours of 2/12/2021, Officer Sharp saw a vehicle driving in the area of First Street and Baker Avenue. The vehicle entered the Vintage Park Apartments and parked in apparent attempt to evade the officer. Officer Sharp exited the apartments but remained in the area to monitor the vehicle. A few minutes later, the vehicle exited the apartment complex. Officer Sharp conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for displaying false tags. The vehicle was being... driven by Angelica Caballero Ortiz, 29 years old from Stockton. Also in the vehicle were Tyler Biesmans, 25 years old from Stockton, and Christopher Dixon, 38 years old from Stockton. Angelica did not possess a valid license and there were tools in the vehicle commonly used to steal catalytic convertors. All three subjects provided inconsistent statements about what they were doing at the apartments. The officers investigation revealed that they were not being truthful. All three subjects were arrested and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on various charges, including conspiracy to commit grand theft, possession of burglary tools, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Escalon, along with neighboring cities, have been seeing a steep uptick in catalytic convertor thefts. These thefts are generally occurring in the early morning hours. If you see suspicious vehicles driving around neighborhoods in the late evenings or early mornings, please call the Escalon Police Department at 209-838-7093 to report it.

On 11/10/2020 Officer Poortinga located a stolen vehicle at the Plaza Shopping Center (1205 Plaza Avenue). Inside the vehicle, he found receipts connecting three suspects to it, two females (unnamed) and one male, Bobby Lee White, 29 years old out of Fairfield. On 11/16/2020, Officer Vieira stopped a vehicle for exiting the Plaza Shopping Center through the one way entrance. The vehicle was registered to and driven by one of the females who was named on a receipt from the... stolen vehicle located on 11/10/2020. Sergeant Hardgraves recognized the registered owner's name from the receipt. Sergeant Hardgraves and Officer Poortinga went to assist Officer Vieira and question the occupants about the stolen vehicle. Bobby, who was a passenger in the vehicle that Officer Vieira had stopped, had provided Officer Vieira with a false name. Sergeant Hardgraves was able to positively identify Bobby, who was subsequently taken into custody for providing false information to a peace officer. A search of Bobby's person revealed a small quantity of suspected methamphetamine. During further investigation, Officer Poortinga was able to locate another stolen vehicle parked at the Plaza Shopping Center. Video surveillance from the area shows Bobby parking the stolen vehicle and then leaving the area in the vehicle he was contacted as a passenger in (The vehicle Officer Vieira made a traffic stop on). Bobby was arrested for providing false information to a peace officer, possession of methamphetamine, and vehicle theft. He was subsequently booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.

On the evening of 10/31/2020 at 10:45 pm, Officers were dispatched to two off road vehicles driving in the area of Sanchez Way and Cardinal Drive. Officer Harrison located two dirt bikes in the area of First Street near Oklahoma Avenue and attempted to make a traffic stop. The two motorcycles fled and attempted to evade officers. The suspects were driving recklessly while attempting to evade officers and nearly collided with other vehicles. The officers lost visual of the ...motorcycles in an orchard off of Miller Avenue for a short period of time before they were again spotted in the area of Justin Drive. Officer Halvorson apprehended the suspects in the area of Matthew Lane and Nathaniel Drive. The drivers were identified as David Wallace, 23 years old, from Escalon, and Chase Thompson, 23 years old, from Oakdale. They were booked into the San Joaquin County Jail for felony evading and the dirt bikes were impounded. See more

On October 15th at 2:35 AM, Officer Sharp was patrolling the 2000 block of Swanson Drive, when he saw a subject run from the front of a residence, enter a black KIA Optima and flee the area at a high rate of speed. Officer Sharp conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The two occupants, Benny Paiz (35) of Modesto and passenger Gina Vargas (28) of Modesto were arrested for possession of stolen property, stolen mail from Valley Springs, stolen property from the 2000 block of Swanson Drive, burglary tools, drug paraphernalia, controlled substance and violating probation. Both were booked into the San Joaquin County jail.
