This truth would go along way... forget this Pollyanna BS! 1. Because DC Water fails to properly clean the dirt (TOC) out of the source water... they add ammonia to bind with the chlorine to sequester the chemical reactions that form regulated disinfection byproducts. (Never mind the unregulated byproducts are 1,000 times more toxic than the regulated ones - just a delay bureaucratic process) 2. The added ammonia breaks down in the system and causes extremely dangerous ni...trification requiring the free chlorine burn you are experiencing now. 3. During the free chlorine burn, the water distribution system will be chemically and physically scoured of biofilm and sludge supported by the ammonia (nitrogen) and phosphate (corrosion inhibitor fed because of chloramine use) they feed. The sludge and biofilm will end up in your homes and businesses - clogging and/or infecting your sink/faucet/shower head aerators - filling up your hot water tanks with sludge you can't properly heat through - and damaging your appliances.

Florida, we’re looking at you, and I’m so sick of the incompetence and malfeasance. It’s a story as old as time. Industry pollutes and the people pay for it. TCE is a carcinogen linked to renal cell carcinoma, cancers of the cervix, liver, biliary passages, lymphatic system and male breast tissue, and fetal cardiac defects, among other effects. Its known relationship to Parkinson’s may often be overlooked due to the fact that exposure to TCE can predate the disease’s onset by decades.

For years, I’ve been teaching one simple concept: Superman is not coming. We need to be the ones to save ourselves. And listen, even if Superman was coming, how long would it take him to clean up all of these communities? We all need to join this mission.

The City of Chino hits it out of the park yet again... always on the cutting edge of water treatment technology... they really care about their consumers. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has released its 2019 Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) National Analysis, which shows that USEPA and companies that manage chemicals continue to make progress in preventing pollution. The report shows that between 2018 and 2019, total releases of TRI chemicals decreased by 9 percent. Bottomline... we didn't dump 329 million pounds of toxic chemicals we had previously dumped... but we still discharged 3.4 billion pounds of toxic chemicals into our air, water and soil... https://www.epa.gov/trinationalanalysis

Failing to meet the terms of a deal from 20 years ago... shut them down... In 2000, Smithfield Foods agreed with state officials in North Carolina to finance research to find and install alternatives to the waste lagoons and spraying systems, but none were deemed economically feasible. Eastern North Carolina has about 4,000 pink hued pools of pig feces, urine and blood as a result of the hog industry, where 9m pigs produce over 10bn gallons of waste annually in the state. When the waste lagoons reach capacity, excess waste is sprayed on to nearby fields.

Eh... To our Canadian cousins to the north... do the right thing. Studies show about 95% of the selenium in Lake Koocanusa comes from the Elk River in British Columbia, Canada. The Teck Resources coalmines sit along the Elk River that dumps into the top end of Lake Koocanusa and have been leaching selenium and nitrogen into the water for decades.

California has failed to address scores of drinking water laws, codes and regulations for decades... this is nothing new. The current Administration is barely providing lip service to the problem. Our poor, disadvantaged and agricultural communities... Superman's Not Coming... we are going to have to fight for this ourselves. There are resources to make things right... and it's not consulting engineers sent to study, the study, of the study. The time is NOW.

Research shows that glyphosate may negatively affect more than half of bacteria strains that make up the human gut microbiome. So next time you feel bloated, tired, rundown, sick... thank Monsanto/Bayer for killing you slowly. It's okay... they got a pill for that.

Not so pristine... Concentrations of DDT in sediment exceeded the benchmark at every sampling location in the Mid-Willamette Sub-Basin. DDT is banned in the United States, but is used elsewhere in the world. Mercury found in crayfish in the river near Marion Street in Salem and near the St. John’s Bridge in Portland exceeded DEQ’s human health criterion.... Evidence of the pesticide diuron was found in every sub-basin of the Willamette. Diuron is an herbicide used to control weeds and mosses. DEQ detected 152 chemicals in sediment collected at a stormwater outfall near Maurie Jacobs Park in Eugene.

Disappointed... but not surprised. The Water Resources Development Act comes out of the Department of Transportation... a cabinet post yet to be designated. We are watching and expect immediate attention to get PFAS cleanup back on track!

I am so tired of this nonsense... chemical manufactures acting like this is some big new surprise... when in reality... 1,4 Dioxane has been recognized as a carcinogen found in our drinking water supplies... From Los Angeles County, California to Suffolk County, New York... we have been successfully deploying water treatment systems to deal with their pollution for over 25 YEARS. It's time to step up the fight against their dangerous practices of secrecy... while they poison us. Likewise... it's time to make them pay for the clean up and the damages they have caused.

Four decades of federal, state and local conservation efforts have mainly targeted individual farmers, providing ways for them to voluntarily reduce water use or adopt more water-efficient technologies. It's time to RIGHT this WRONG. Are we up to the task? Can we make it happen... REAL water resources management. In Kansas, Day Zero the day wells run dry has arrived for about 30% of the aquifer. Within 50 years, the entire aquifer is expected be 70% depleted.

Water companies polluted beaches in England and Wales 3,000 times in a year... more than 150 people reported falling ill during the summer bathing season. Not all of the 21,462 combined sewage overflow pipes which release a mixture of storm water and sewage are monitored so even water companies do not have accurate figures. Flaws in the water testing and bathing water classification regime also mean some of the worst pollution incidents are wilfully ignored".

IDIOTS... the statement, "It's a good thing" demonstrates just how ignorant they are. The "whiff of chlorine" in tap water is actually TOXIC disinfection byproducts... NOT CHLORINE !!! The disinfection byproducts form because Miami-Dade FAILS to reduce total organic carbon (DIRT) precursors. That's why they add ammonia... to sequester these reactions and cause nitrification, lead leaching and infrastructure corrosion.... and you're paying for their stupidity.

Now the leading cause of reported waterborne disease in the U.S., Legionella accounts for about 60% of outbreaks over the last decade. Nearly 10,000 cases of Legionnaires’ disease were reported to the CDC in 2018 the most ever in U.S. history, and still a likely underestimate. Edens suggests the true figure is probably double that. Other scientists estimate the annual case count at between 52,000 and 70,000.

Miami-Dade is set to expose their consumers to blasts of toxins... They'll tell you it's okay in small doses... it may only cause bladder cancer. The reality is... if you are pregnant, you could miscarry or go into premature labor and deliver an at-risk baby struggling with lifelong problems associated with being borne premature.

The United States of America... in 2020. Even in the wealthiest countries, basic water services are not universal. At least 1.1 million people in the United States do not have hot and cold water running water in their house and a shower or tub for bathing, a new study finds.
