We decided ...to try 2 bottles of "the good stuff" just because, and we were not disappointed. 1) newly opened $46 CA white - owl 2) newly opened $85 Italy red - CASTELLARE BIRD!!!!! BOTH absolutely delicious, BOTH went upside down. Part 1 - the owl "Eric Kent" $46.00 California chardonnay 2018 owl _____ 3rd of 3 Eric Kent Wine Cellars _____ 54th owl Label = 4.5/5: big, v interesting owl but not called out, the layout grew hugely on me with time Drinkability = 4.5/5: 14.3% alcohol; bright green-yellow, nice color; intense aroma, green apple, some citrus, plus something odd & good, WOW, wonderful in nose, enticing!; immediately delicious on tongue, m-h heat, med acidity, l tannin, feels balanced, long lasting xlnt taste & mouthfeel, this is the "good stuff" for sure. It's a pure privilege to drink it. This pricey $50 chardonnay is for sure worth it! Big thanks to John Gillis at Eric Kent who was enthusiastic about the "AW thing" and made sure my 3 bottle EK order got to me in tip-top shape.
