Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! . Today, the irish people celebrate the life and work of Saint Patrick, even though he was not irish at all. In fact, he was born Maewyn Succat, around AD 387 in England. When he was 16, Patrick was kidnapped and taken to Ireland to serve as slave for a herdsman named Milchu. . Six years later he escaped and went to France to become a member of the church. After his studies were done, Patrick was sent to Ireland to convert pagans to christianity and... to take care of the christians already converted. . He traveled the whole country preaching, serving others and denouncing the institution of slavery. Patrick was one of the first abolitionists we know and he is very important to the story of Ireland!
