The Englekirk Center, located at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and known world-wide as the largest outdoor shake table is getting a major upgrade thanks to a $16.3M Grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). Over the last 14 years, The Englekirk Center has conducted large-scale seismic safety tests of various building and product types by the recreation of seven (7) real-time earthquakes. Groundbreaking News!! Earlier this week the groundbreaking of Warner Bros new Frank Gehry-designed office towers commenced. *Project Update* Last month plans were filed with Los Angeles Department of City Planning for an 8-story apartment building consisting of seven stories of steel container-modules over one story of concrete podium that would replace a parking lot at corner of Selma and Las Palmas Avenues in Los Angeles.
