This is what about 4 hours of painting looks like. I’m starting at the bottom of the heart, because it seemed to make the most sense to do it that way, but dang...! That foreshortening at the bottom is a challenge to work with. I’m painting one of the #heartsinsf #heartsinsf2020 for @sfghfoundation and my design is basically capturing all the things we do for love during the pandemic. Ginsberg's poetry is not easy to get into but there's a great story, the following has been pasted together from Wikipedia Ginsberg's poem Howl was first performed at the Six Gallery in San Francisco on October 7, 1955.[15] The reading was conceived by Wally Hedricka painter and co-founder of the Six. Howl other Poems was published in the fall of 1956 as number four in the Pocket Poets Series from City Lights Books ... "Howl" contains many references to illicit drugs and sexual practices, both heterosexual and homosexual. Claiming that the book was obscene, customs officials seized 520 copies of the poem on 25 March 1957, being imported from England.[29] On June 3 Shig Murao, the bookstore manager, was arrested and jailed for selling Howl and Other Poems to an undercover San Francisco police officer. City Lights publisher Lawrence Ferlinghetti was subsequently arrested for publishing the book. At the obscenity trial, nine literary experts testified on the poem's behalf; Ferlinghetti, a published poet himself, is credited (by David Skover and Ronald K. L. Collins) with breathing "publishing life" into Ginsberg's poetic career.[30] Supported by the American Civil Liberties Union, Ferlinghetti won the case when California State Superior Court Judge Clayton Horn decided that the poem was of "redeeming social importance". Engine 43, was home to a never of Wally hedrick's family. When we moved in I found an old slide projector, labelled Wally. It's old enough to be from 1955, may be out was showing slides at the reading, I find that thought very entertaining.

We have two rooms to share! The rooms are in the tower and on the second floor of a former fire house. One requires climbing up two ladders and is not for somebody afraid of heights. You will share a huge living room, artist studios, kitchen and 1 bathroom, 2 WC as well as some outdoor space with us, a family of 3 with an 8 year old son. We have been living here with room mates most of the time. We are especially interested in people, that are looking for a work/life kind of... place, that allows to have occasional warehouse or art sales, excibitions, performances, workshops etc. If that sounds to good to be true for you, please get in touch with us! You might be the person we are looking for. We are fine with a couple sharing the room or open for a work exchange e.g. building another bathroom in exchange for rent.
