Okay, so on Badwater race day, 7/28/15, I started on a 100 day journey to run 1,000 miles in one pair of shoes, Zero Limit ALTRAS of course, and raise $10,000 for the kiddos of the non-profit 100MileClub.com, a charity that is very close to my heart, because it gets school kids involved in running. The journey ends tomorrow, 11/4. So, here's where we're at with that - and when I see we, that means me on the miles, and my running friends on the $10,000 dollars raised: Miles - ...1,913.4 miles in 99 days. Yeah, about double. And my ALTRAS are really showing it. Dollars raised - $1,306! Yep, jest a little short. So here's the dealio. If there's ever been a time that I've helped you /inspired you/encouraged you in your running & walking - like uh: Coaching/mentoring you for your first marathon. Coaching/mentoring you for your first ultra. Coaching/mentoring you for your first 100-miler. Cheering for you at the start of a race with my crazy signs, running the race, cheering for you as I passed by, and then waiting for you at the finish with my trusty cowbell or train whistle to walk you in. Even if - especially if - you were the very last person. If I've done any of those things for you, could you please consider donating $10 (or $1,000 - don't want to limit your goals here) to sponsor one underprivileged school kid for a year? I never ask for anything in return for what I do, I believe it's my obligation to Pay It Forward for the many great running experiences I've had, but I am asking for jest this one thing. And here's my commitment to you. I'll meet you all half way. I'll commit to doubling my mileage - which means somehow squeezing 86.6 miles in tomorrow - If the Jester Nation will help me raise jest half of my original goal - of $10,000. Of course I'd be Ed-static to see the $10,000 goal reached by 11/5, but anywhere close to to $5,000 would be good, as that means 500 more kids that wouldn't otherwise be able to participate, can experience the pure joy of running throughout the school year. *Special Jester Nation Thank You to the following people that have already so generously donated to this awesome charity: Jason Chan Earl Quijada Michelle McCarthy Terrie Wurzbacher A. Nonymous Kay Beach Kimberly Salt Justin Sakamoto Bill DuMonthier Angie White Karen Collins Dr. Bryon Solberg Kara Lubin Pamela Ganly Marino Sandra B Muller Debbie Eggers A. Nonymous (that person donated twice - kudos to them!) http://www.imathlete.com//TheJesters1000MileRunningEDventu "Dream Big! Believe Bigger! And Turn the Impossible into I'm Possible!" Few will deny that running/walking makes us see ourselves and the world around us differently. And what a beautiful world it is, isn’t it?
Is it just me or... Even after being born and raised in Southern California, I now refer to parts of it as: ...oh! this is right by the 25! or... ...omg, we're right by the 50! or ...hey! we should go by the 75! it's like, RIGHT here. or the best one, ...awww, the finish line. Let's go stand on it/walk through the two trees/go to Hot Dog Stick. and nobody understands who hasn't been through it. Is it just me? I miss you all already! <3 (this is Kara)
I spy mile 75!!

Hello guys! Many of you have asked about raising money for the 100MileClub. For this year’s EC100/50 raising money is an option and is not mandatory, but raising donations is highly encouraged. For 2015, all proceeds above and beyond any direct race event expenses will go directly to the 100MileClub. Ed and I are volunteering our time to make certain that this race is a success and that you enjoy the race too!... A big thank you goes out to those who have already raised money for the 100MileClub. Your donations are very much appreciated! And your donations received prior to the race being cancelled, and new donations will show on your fundraising page. For those who wish to participate, there will be a contest for the largest amount of donations raised. Kara’s mom is working on the amazing and prestigious quilt, which will go to the person who raises the most money!
