‘Tis the season! Fall family portraits are in full swing And lemme let you in on a lil’ secret. From an experienced family photographer. Here lean in close, I’ll whisper it: Kids will be kids...even on photo day!!! So for all those photogs only posting the perfect shot. And for all those parents thinking Is my kid the only one who doesn’t pose perfectly for photos! Guess what? Kids are kids!!! And not every photo is perfect lighting; perfect posing; perfect smiling. Emb...race that adorable little one’s sweet but sassy, cranky but joyful, determined but compromising, strong-willed but loving, pre-schoolin’ personality!!! My favorite most enjoyable families I work with are the ones who get it...they get that their kid is a kid and they don’t stress about the fact that their two year old thinks it’s hilarious to cover daddy’s head with their dress You’ll miss these days one day, and you will cherish this photo one day, too! Hey friends! I've had a few messages lately on whether I am currently accepting clients for Fall 2019...and--while you may see me posting sneak peeks on Facebook and Instagram throughout the next few months--the answer is this: I have scheduled photo sessions September thru November but ONLY for those families who had a credit remaining from 2018 (meaning they purchased a Black Friday session or are on a Journey Collection package for baby's first year). Which is still a lot ...of clients! Therefore, you may see family sessions being posted on my pages, but please know that these are reserved for those who had pre-paid sessions from 2018 :-) Many of you have also messaged me wanting to know what I am up to these days?? Well, I write. A lot. And then I write some more. And take photos. And make videos. And design graphics, logos, and ad materials. I run marketing campaigns, and write copy. I design and apply vinyl graphics. Manage social media pages. And coordinate national expositions. Oh, did I mention I write? A lot! It's interesting and challenging, and I am learning a TON everyday. When I see clients out and about, many of them ask me: Do you miss photography?? And the answer is usually, "Well, I mean, it didn't die." (Joking.) I will always be a photographer. But, owning a photography business is a different kind of hustle, and one that I wanted to step away from for a while. Working 40-50 hours a week now at an office (which I love my little office!) and being a mommy has had its challenges. But, it means I am able to be more present with my kiddo--believe it or not. When I owned the studio, my brain never turned off from work. I mean, yes--I had some flexibility, but--overall--it meant that I was never fully present in what I was doing because the business was always on my mind. I love what I am doing right now. Will I ever own a business again?? Maybe. Maybe not. For the time being, while I will miss seeing all of my wonderful clients who book me year after year (love you all!), I am grateful for where I am at in my professional life See more

Hold that little baby. And as she grows, keep holding her. . . .... When she’s two and having a melt down in the store, hold her. When she’s three and scared for the first day of preschool, hold her. When she’s five and excited to start Kindergarten, hold her. When she’s seven and she wakes up in the morning and clumsily makes her way into your bedroom to say good morning at 6:30 and you’re so tired from the work week and just want to sleep in, scoop her up like it’s the first time you’ve seen her in a month, and hold her. This is a fleeting moment. But so is life. And that is why I will always love documenting it. The baby is here. Everything as you know it has just changed, and an adventure unlike any other is about to unfold. Embrace the little moments; stay present (like truly present); let the dad do things his way (so maybe he didn’t buy the organic baby foodno prob); and don’t sweat the small stuff. This is the start of a new chapter. A new adventure. A new opportunity. And while this announcement is in many ways bittersweet, I am truly excited for what lies ahead If you are a past client, an email was sent earlier this month, and this announcement comes as less of a surprise (thank you all for the sweet email replies and texts!). But to my followers on social media: Today marked the end of my final week working at the Little Wishes studio. And at the end of April, the... studio and my business will officially close its doors... Six years ago, I took a big ol’ leap...and basically just hoped that the net would appear. I decided to do a huge 180, and went from high school English teacher to full time photographer/business owner. And with some serious hustle and hard workand fabulous clienteleI turned a dream into a reality. Over the years, I have met, befriended and photographed many wonderful families. Truly. When you document some of the most important and memorable milestones in a person’s life, it’s very humbling and you get to know people on a personal level. It’s more than just photos. The last six years have been just incredible, and I am thankful for the journey as it really did help shape my perspective on so many things; nurture several of my strengths and talents; and grow my self confidence as a professional and person. But even more importantly, this business of mine provided amazing opportunity for my family. Yet, over the years and in running this business, I have found that I truly have a passion for many specific elements of business. I truly LOVE writing and marketing, andof coursemedia. I find the art of marketing fascinating, and the power of words coupled with photos to create compelling content inspire me. And so I am just beyond thrilled to take my passions with me to an incredible company here in Chico, and help propel them forward as their Marketing and Media Manager.
