Do you know the Signs & Symptoms of Heat Exhaustion or Heat Stroke? With the warm weather fast approaching, we at EAS want to make sure you are all staying safe! With Heat Exhaustion, you may develop: Headaches, Nausea & Vomiting, Fatigue, Thirst, Anxiety, Poor Coordination, Weak and Rapid Pulse. If you move into Heat Stroke, you may develop: Extreme Thirst, Rapid Pulse, Dry and Swollen Tongue, Seizures or may even fall into a Coma.... Now let’s talk increased risk factors. Your ability to cope with extreme heat depends on the strength of your Central Nervous System. In both the very young, and adults over 65, your body can not cope with changes in body temperature. Persons who are overweight, chronic health conditions and even medications may put you at risk for Heat Exhaustion/Stroke. What you can do: Wear loose fitting clothing, wear sunscreen (!), take it easy during the hottest part of the day, be cautious if you have an increased risk, and be sure to drink plenty of fluids. If you think you may be in trouble call 911 immediately and we will be there to help you, always. Should you decide to cool off in the pool, never ever forget to stay safe around the pool. If you have children that spend time in or near a pool, you can never be too safe. Make sure children: Wear flotation devices, get swimming lessons, wear sunscreen, and always have an adult close and watching. A pool fence is a terrific investment for preventing accidents. Take it easy this summer, stay safe and have fun! If you need us, we will be there. Jumping fully clothed into the water and all. #WaterSafety #HeatStroke #HeatExhaustion #WatchTheWater #Brea #Placentia #YorbaLinda #CommunityEducation #AndradeIsAChamp

Knowing how to use 911 is crucial during an emergency. Do the children in your life know how to use 911? Do they know their home address or where to find it? Do they know what an emergency is? We have a few simple steps and tricks to teach children how to use 911. Remaining calm, knowing where you are, and answering questions from the dispatcher will make calling 911 easy and help us find you in an emergency. #911forChildren #Brea #Placentia #YorbaLinda #OrangeCounty #CommunityEducation #StaySafe #Emergencies

With the weather warming up, it’s a great time to go swimming! But before you jump into the pool, we at EAS want to remind you all of some Water Safety tips. Water Safety is very important to us, and drownings are something we want to stop. The best way to stop it is through prevention and education. Here are some helpful tips: Never take your eyes off of your children when at the pool, Make sure your children have swimming lessons, Have your children use a safety device while swimming, Keep a phone nearby, and teach your children that horseplay around the pool is dangerous. Most importantly, if you have a pool, make sure you have a Pool Safety Fence. #PoolSafety #WatchTheWater #SwimInPartners #NeverTooSafe #Brea #Placentia #YorbaLinda

Today, we at EAS want to say Bon Voyage and Good Luck to Gary Modrak! Gary will be attending OCEMT’s upcoming Paramedic Program. While working here for the last 3 years, and 1 year as an FTO, Gary helped the citizens of Brea on Brea Ambulance 1. Gary wanted to tell everyone I’m proud to have served the people of Brea alongside Brea Fire and my fellow EMTs. I’ll cherish the friendships I’ve made along the way. Gary, we wish you all of the luck in the world and have the utmost confidence in you at OCEMTs Medic School. We know you’ll make us proud. If you want to wish Gary good luck, please do so in the comments! #Brea #Placentia #YorbaLinda #PTownHeroes #MedicSchool #Paramedic #Paramagician #BonVoyage #GoodLuck #BreaFireDepartment

Education for our Community: Hands-Only CPR. For adults and teens, chest compressions are good for the first few minutes someone is in Cardiac Arrest. This pushes oxygen through the body to keep vital organs alive. Make sure to call 911 before starting compressions so help can arrive quickly. Wear a mask, and make sure to wash your hands if you perform Hands-Only CPR. If you are thinking about becoming CPR Certified, do it. You may just save a life. Get more information from heart.org/HandsOnlyCPR! Thank you to Joshua Andrade and Christy Gill! #Brea #Placentia #YorbaLinda #CommunityEducation #PTownHeroes #CPR #HandsOnlyCPR #SaveALife #WearAMask #OCEMS

This week, we at Emergency Ambulance Service said #BonVoyage and #GoodLuck to EMT Blake Cole! Blake has just been hired with @costamesafirerescue as a Firefighter/EMT, and we are so very proud of him! Blake spent 3 years working at EAS, being lucky enough to help the people of his hometown Yorba Linda. In edition to being an EMT, Blake also worked as an Ocean Lifeguard, CPR Instructor, and Volunteer Firefighter...and his hard work paid off. Blake wanted to leave his friends ...and coworkers with the following advice, I recommend anyone trying to pursue a job in the fire service to never quit. It took me 34(!) applications before I got hired. Blake, your dedication to EAS, this profession, and your home town is unrivaled. Thank you so much for your years of hard work! #Brea #Placentia #YorbaLinda #BonVoyage #CostaMesa #FireFighting #Hero #PTownHeroes #EmergencyAmbulanceService #NeverQuit See more

With the Holidays fast approaching, we at EAS would like to take some time to share some of the CDC guidelines for Holiday Celebrations. We implore you to stay safe, and avoid gathering with anyone not in your household. COVID-19 cases are at an all time high, and we need to do everything we can to stay safe. The considerations are meant to supplement - not replace - any state, local, territorial, or tribal health and safety laws, rules, and regulations with which all gatherings must comply. #Brea #Placentia #YorbaLinda #ChristmasOutside #HappyChanukah #OCEMS #emergencyambulanceservice #PTownHeroes

Earlier this month, we said #BonVoyage and #GoodLuck to the Powell Brothers. Associate Supervisor Cameron Cam spent 3 years here at EAS, most of that time working in Placentia. Now in Texas, Cam is in the process with Austin Travis County EMS! We couldn’t be prouder of him. When asked, Cam said his favorite memory of EAS was the overall teamwork and family like environment. We’ve all had our good days and bad days out in the field but we all did it together and became bett...er & stronger together he said. Cameron wanted to leave his EAS family with a message: Keep on striving with whatever career you’re chasing and don’t stop. There are bumps in the road but don’t let it ever stop you. Whether you knew me from being your FTO or Supervisor, I know what you are all capable of so prove me right out there! I love and miss you all, I’ll be sure to stay in touch. Cameron, from us at EAS, we wish you all the best with your career! Thank you for your dedication to our community as well as our company. #BonVoyage #TexasBound #GoodLuck #Brea #Placentia #YorbaLinda #CamShaft #Camwich #WhyIsYourCarSoLoud #EmergencyAmbulanceService #PTownHeroes See more
