The legacy we leave behind can be quite amazing. The book emphasizes specifically on a woman’s legacy. Something that struck me in the first part of the book was about God’s design of the human body that testifies to the feminine capacity for legacy. We all have a special form of DNA in our bodies, man and woman. Residing inside each DNA microscopic cell there is a structure called mitochondria. This mitochondrial DNA is passed down only from our mothers. This DNA is passed from generation to generation stemming all the way back to mankind’s first mother Eve. Every living person on earth is a product of this amazing maternal legacy. Crazy, right?!!! We as women have been uniquely gifted by God. The list given in the book is extensive. Here are just a few things we have done for life-times. Scrap-bookers (culture keepers) Newsletters (communication hubs) Cards Social media posts Celebration of milestones Keep in touch with friends & family members Share news of victories and challenges Chronicle every aspect of family history Fill out baby books and family bibles Cultivate connection and relationships Organize holiday gatherings & family reunions Bed-time prayers with our children, snuggles & kisses etc This list goes on and on of legacy we pass on.. sometimes good, sometimes not so good. (I only listed the good) It is in our nature to pour ourselves into the ones we love, and that is the beautiful part of legacy. It’s not about money, things or just family history. Dr. James Dobson once said that Heritage is what you give to someone. Legacy is what you do in someone. This beautiful gift the Lord gave us gives us opportunity to be influencers. How we use it is up to us. Positivity, Negativity or stay Neutral. Are you ready and in-tune with what legacy you want to leave that will and can potentially expand for generations to come?

Ta da! and Hallelujah! Our backyard project is done. So so grateful for this lovely, quiet, serene spot to be outside, get fresh air and sun, keep my immune system healthy, and hear God's voice. Even if we can't spend the summer in the Sierras as we usually do, we will still have a comfy place to relax, have meals, and entertain a few friends. I'm learning that part of my grieving process includes gratitude. And today, I have much to be grateful for. ...
