Thank you City of San José for recognizing our executive chef's dedication to serve families in need during the pandemic. Since the temporarily closing of Elyse Restaurant, he had to wear multiple hats, including being a dishwasher, grocery runner, food preparer, cleaner, chef and contractor for the restaurant while still being able to donate more than 1,000 meals a month to our community. Su, CHRISTMAS WILL NOT BE LOST! ***2000 Meals to Distribute on Sunday, Dec. 20th*** DRIVERS and BOXES IN NEED: To comply with the new Shelter-In-Place order, we will be needing volunteers to deliver the meals through CONTACTLESS delivery to families in need instead.... Unfortunately for the first time ever, we had 30 no shows at our last distribution so please know that if you were a no show without giving us any notice, we will NOT be able to accommodate your request this time. 30 no shows resulted in 120 meals awaiting to be picked up. It was unfair to other families who did not receive any meals because the meals were supposedly all accounted for, but A HUGE thank you to volunteers who came late at night to distribute the meals to homeless shelters and senior apartment homes and thus, ABSOLUTELY NO MEALS WERE WASTED We received many appreciation messages and will not let a few bad apples ruin it for the rest of everyone else so the next distribution will be on Dec. 20th. Due to the large amount of no shows from the last time, we will be limiting 6 meals per household. This does not mean that family less than 6 should ask for the maximum amount of meals allowed. Please know that an honor system is still in need as the meals requested should be 1 meal per family member to allow as many families as possible the opportunity to share the same experience. If you need more than 6 meals, please reach out to us privately. What's on the menu this time? We'll be allocating 2000 meals of our chef's home made spaghetti with meatballs marinara sauce/Shrimp fettuccine AND every meal will come with a bowl of creamy broccoli soup Due to the new Shelter-in-Place order, distribution will NOT be at the restaurant, but you will need to message us your address privately so we can have our volunteers deliver the meal(s) through contactless delivery. ALSO, because Christmas is just around the corner, if you have any children in your household, please let us know how many and their ages, as we will be gifting Disney Masks, and other goodies to spread some joy in what's a very difficult time for many. Thank you, New Seasons Market, for your generous donation of boxes. What makes us happy is...LOTS of FREE boxes. It's hard to justify paying for boxes when that money can convert to a whole lot of meals to families in need We're so, so grateful! Hi Everyone, We received outpouring messages of embarrassments and shame and while we usually do not like to post any personal statements on our restaurant's Facebook or website, I want to personally let everyone know my immigrated family of 7 were once the people we are helping now. We waited hours in line at the food bank, at donation sites, and anywhere we were able to to feed our family. We know exactly how you feel and it's truly rewarding to be able to pay forward the a...ct of kindness our family received when we first came to America. YOU SHOULD NOT FEEL ANY EMBARRASSMENTS. This is a tough time for many, not just to people who have been struggling, but to those who never struggled before too. Hang in there and we PROMISE that even when Covid is over, we'll still continue to serve meals to families in need at least once a month. Please DO NOT be afraid to ask for help. Andddd we're backkkk.... We are so incredibly blessed to have had the strong support from our community during what and is still a very difficult time for many. Thank you to Nathan, owner of Nox Cookie Bar who came out to deliver us some sweets, Chris Tran of BRANDING OUT // BO INC who made personalized face masks for us to serve, San Jose Downtown Association for your financial contribution to help us fix our property damages, Local Color artists who came out immediately to ...paint over our wood panels, @anthony nguyen for making custom pole dividers to help us stay with opening protocols, and our customers who have reached out and lifted our spirits. Élyse Restaurant will officially start opening again for outdoor dining every Fridays and Saturdays from 5-9PM. Please come check out what our executive chef, Baoky Vo, have been creating during his quarantine. We definitely will be no where close to being as busy as we once were, but we're just very excited to be able to serve you again. Reservations are strongly recommended. "If the challenge exist, so must the solution." Dear Valued Customers, Elyse have been issuing FULL refunds to all deposits made during this unforeseeable time. We do not want to profit from what's hurting everyone else as well, even though we ourselves are suffering from this difficulty.... We sincerely apologized for the delay in making this hard decision, but we will remain closed until further notice. Even though we are losing money for everyday we stay open or close, and at the suggestion of many to do take-out deliveries and home deliveries, we have decided NOT to offer this service to honor social distancing so that we can ALL surpass this troubling time together and AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. If there's anyone having a hard time getting these items, we have the following items we can donate for free to each family, yes even toilet papers. We do not want to take or make a political stance on what our beliefs are or should be, whether we believe people are under reacting or over-reacting. It's a FACT a "Shelter in Place" was ordered and whether we believe in the severity of the Coronavirus or not, we should be respectful of those who are at higher risk with pre-existing conditions and do our part to not spread the virus. We just hope that we as a community can come together so if you are having trouble finding items at the grocery stores, please reach out to us for the following items and we will deliver it to you for free until supplies run out. Yesterday, Elyse Restaurant was a packed house on a random Tuesday night. Upon cleaning up for the evening, we received this sweet message below and was not able to help ourselves from getting teary. To date, Elyse Restaurant has NOT once spent any money towards advertising (not because we didn't want to, but because we didn't have the means to) and how busy we have gotten has all been completely through referrals and word-of-mouth. We remembered the days when we barely had a...ny customers and now have a waitlist with repeat customers who shares the same joy in seeing a FULLY committed restaurant. Dear Valued Customers, Elyse will be CLOSED tomorrow, Christmas Eve, Dec 24th, but due to popular request, we will be OPEN on Christmas Day, Dec 25th from 5:00-6:30PM. Dinner services will begin at 5PM, with the latest reservation time being at 6:30 PM to allow both our customers to dine with their loved ones and closing early so our staff members can go home to enjoy dinner with their loved ones too. Elyse is proud to announce that we now having parking validations through Park SJ. The closest parking structure to our restaurant is on Second and San Carlos. The structure has baby blue columns and is located only a couple buildings from us. Thank you for your continuous support EVEN when we did NOT have validations so we're very happy to validate away

We’re a family owned business which means when you walk in our restaurant: Our chef is my brother-in-law. My husband is your advanced sommelier. My sister is our accountant.... And I am your waitress/dishwasher Our chef and my brother-in-law is one of the hardest working person I know. We have no idea how he was able to successfully catered an event for Hublot in San Francisco after literally becoming a first time dad the day before. As soon as he was finished in San Francisco around 10pm, he rushed home to his baby boy and wife. Please welcome the newest Elyse member, Stephan! Love, Thach Namer
