2019 Taco Cook-Off People’s Choice award goes to: @elveganitosd! It took a little exploring and the will to come out of our comfort zone to create a taco that was going to question people’s palettes. The Taco Koreano (marinated grilled tofu, Korean style slaw, Gochujang aioli, fresh mango, cilantro, crispy rice noodles & sesame seeds) came through. We knew we had a good one when our five daughters loved everything about El Koreano. Zero complaints. We want to thank everyon...e that came out last night to support the vegan community in San Diego. It is a well built, strong community (thanks @veganinsandiego ) Big thanks to everyone that voted for our taco, big thanks to the other amazing competitors, and a huge thank you to @veganinsandiego for putting this event together. Congratulations to @eaturheartoutsd for winning the Judges’ Choice award. We had so much fun getting creative and seeing other vendors bring their A game to the competition. Attention @firstfridaynightmarket attendees! Tonight we are bringing this delicious special called Huaraches. It consists of a thicker-than-most long tortilla made with masa (corn dough) spread with our refried pinto beans, lettuce, your choice of chorizo, carnitas or marinated mushroom, tomatoes, onion, cilantro, our avocado cream then sprinkled with our cashew cotija cheese. It’s amaaaaazing! To eat simply hold it the long way as you would a taco.
