Detective Monroe gave a presentation on what a detective’s investigation might like. Officers Villarreal and Hostetler gave presentations on what our Problem Oriented Policing (POP) unit does. The explorers were also quizzed on the phonetic alphabet, penal codes, and vehicle codes.
We’re back at it again! The Explorer program has resumed digital meetings. Last night Det Moser gave a presentation on Credit Card Fraud. It was so great to see all our Explorers again.

Traffic Detective Durham taught the Explorers about traffic collisions and about being a Drug Recognition Expert. The explorers also got some PT time in.
Last week, the Explorers learned about Use of Force. Explorers Garcia and Kasper earned their uniforms by completing their participation hours and passing a written test.
This week’s Explorer meeting was presented by our SCU and focused on narcotic investigations. It was also Explorer Sergeant Patrick Port’s last meeting. Sgt. Port has been an Explorer for 5 years and is leaving to focus on school and increase his involvement in the army ROTC program.

Tonight we had our first in person meeting while practicing social distancing. EGPD’s Forensic Investigator Ott gave a presentation on Crime Scene Investigation. We are so excited to announce that we will resume our weekly in person meetings.
This weeks meeting covered Driving Under the Influence.
Our second virtual meeting was a success! We also said goodbye to Explorer Sergeant Isabella Dennis. She will be leaving us to attend college. We wish her the best of luck and hope she will come back to visit us.

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to Explorer Sergeant Dennis. She has been accepted to the University of Santa Cruz to study forensic psychology. She also received a full-ride scholarship. We are so proud of all the hard work and dedication this amazing young woman has put in her education and the explorer post. We can't wait to see what she does next!
Tonight we say goodbye to Explorer Lieutenant Rodriquez. He has accepted a CSO position with EGPD.
Last week our Explorers learned now to write Resumes and Cover Letters. Tonight they are learning about Property Crimes.
It's Wednesday night which means our Explorers are back at it. Tonight they practiced active shooter scenarios and their first-aid skills.
Over the weekend the Explorers traveled to Stockton to compete in the Stockton CHP Invitational Explorer Competition. The Explorers took 1st place in two scenarios and 3rd place in another scenario. We are so proud of all their hard work.
Over the weekend, the Explorers earned certifications in CPR and First aid. Well done!
