Interesting to see what the folks on the other side of the pond think of as progressive parenting post-divorce. Often European countries lead the way when it comes to administering social services and implementing progressive systems. However, it seems like California may be a little ahead of the curve when it comes to pushing co-parenting on divorced and unmarried parents. Mediation is the standard practice in California as is child centered parenting. Still, there are lessons to be learned here my take away from this post is that working together for a common purpose is the best way to raise children during and after a divorce.

I dont agree with the "Divorce for Men" business model. While there is certainly some truth to the issues highlighted in this article, you don't have to run a practice focusing on men's rights to advise a client to not act out in front of witnesses or to warn a client about the relative ease with which an opposing party can get a Domestic Violence Restraining Order based on a relatively weak allegation. If you're looking for an attorney focus on the attorney and how they interact with you, not how he or she markets their practice.

The Guideline referenced in the blog post is a good overview of different issues that can crop up during the course of a custody and visitation case. I like the way that the authors have incorporated graphics to show various parenting plans. Certainly an informative read and a great jumping off point for discussions regarding the creation of a parenting plan.
