Chris and his staff prepared a delicious holiday meal to be shared with residents of a local senior community. The residents were delighted by the meals and we were delighted to share a little holiday cheer with area seniors!

With just a month to go until Veterans Day, it is time to start writing our "Letters of Gratitude" for our local Veterans! These letters will be part of "mail call" during the Drive-by Caravan on November 11th in El Dorado County. Thank you for helping us shower our Veterans with appreciation and joy! What better way to honor the end of Mental Health Awareness week than to question the profound effects of social isolation due to the pandemic on those that are most vulnerable. Last week a small group of residents at the Fairacres Manor nursing home in Colorado staged a protest against the restrictions hampering their ability to spend time with loved ones. While there is no easy answer, I think their claim, "Rather die from COVID than loneliness" should make us all stop to think. https://denver.cbslocal.com//nursing-home-residents-gree/

During these times of Covid-19 "social distancing" and isolation, focusing on our mental health is extremely important. At the 9th Annual Successfully Serving Your Congregation Zoom event last week our Director of Care Management, Gail Arno, spoke on this topic. Knowing the signs of Depression in the elderly and having resources on hand to help support those suffering is information we should all have at the ready.
