Edgewood Center for Children and Families 26.12.2020

It's Tuesday, and that means it's time for Edgewood Updates! Our San Mateo Regional Director Jamila McCallum recently completed a Chan Zuckerberg Initiative training cohort, and has this to say about her experience: "Just finished with my last CZI Capacity Building Leadership workshop. Feeling grateful for the opportunity to develop my leadership strategies. It has been such a pleasure getting to share the creativity in Edgewood’s response to COVID-19. It’s always enriching ...to connect with other agencies and foster hope in uncertain times." #chanzuckerberginitiative #edgewoodupdates

Appreciation post for our long-time community partner, Sequoia Healthcare District, which has collaborated with us to improve the health outcomes of district residents in the San Mateo region since 2007. With SHD’s support, Edgewood has helped hundreds of caregivers in our HealthyKin Program to improve their health and provide a forever home for children unable to stay with their parents. Edgewood also addresses the unique health concerns of vulnerable Transition Age Youth (a...ge 18-25) at our Redwood City Drop-in Center. SHD also offered us an additional $25,000 COVID-19 rapid response grant to provide urgent help to Edgewood clients struggling during the pandemic. Thank you Sequoia Healthcare District! #mentalhealthmatters #supportvunerablepeople #mentalhealthawareness #bayareanonprofits

It’s Mental Illness Awareness Week, and this year’s theme is What People with Mental Illness Want You to Know. An important part of our work at Edgewood has always been to destigmatize mental health, and to bring awareness and healing through full-circle programs, that help youths and families improve and maintain their mental health. For more news and resources on this year’s #MIAW, check out the National Alliance on Mental Illness who are celebrating this year’s theme with messages and testimonials by folks living with mental illness. #mentalhealthawarness #mentalhealthmatters
