Eden Centers for Advanced Fertility Imaging Options: Ultrasounds An ultrasound is critical for a female fertility evaluation. Ultrasounds clearly display the reproductive organs (such as the uterus and ovaries). An ultrasound can assess an antral follicle count which helps assess a females ovarian reserve. It can also help diagnose fibroids which can affect female fertility or cause menstrual cycle abnormalities. Ultrasounds can also help physicians with the diagnosis of PC...OS. Sonohysterogram or Saline Infused Sonogram A specialized ultrasound and procedure where a small catheter is inserted into the woman’s uterus to infuse saline and open up the uterus up temporarily like a balloon. This allows visualization of the uterine cavity (inside of the uterus) to identify any endometrial polyps, fibroids, or scar tissue within the uterus.
