Changed up the environment for my workouts this week. I decided to workout at the beach with my sandbag and loved it. It’s good to change up your workout and environment every once in a while. Being in the sun was also very energizing as I’ve been spending too much time in doors lately. If you always workout (or work) indoors, try working out outside sometime. I’d also recommend putting some variety in your workout program. Both will benefit your body and mind. Get out and move!

Mentally and physically tired today along with a headache the majority of the day but still have to put the work in. Felt a lot better after this. The core of today’s workout: 5 rounds: A. Single leg suitcase balance. A good way to work your single leg balance, core stability and grip strength. Just make sure that you have good posture (level shoulders, level hips, knees in line with the toes) the entire time. 30 second holds are good. Try it out!

Yesterday was our 9 year anniversary and the rule is that every year we have to do something we haven’t done or go somewhere we haven’t been. - This year we celebrated by painting along to a Bob Ross video! We took hours instead of 30 minutes and made a lot of mistakes but as Bob says, there are no mistakes, only happy accidents. It was a lot of fun and we plan on doing more. - My key takeaways from painting with Bob Ross:... 1. Find beauty even in the seemingly insignificant details. 2. Mistakes are just happy little accidents. You can still turn them into something beautiful. See more
Night time is my favorite time to run. The darkness means less distractions and more focus. This allows me to get inside of my own head more. Do you prefer day or night runs?
Starting over - It’s nice being able to swim again. All the local pools, like everything else, have been closed for months due to COVID. Now they’re back open and I can get back to making progress. What sucks is how much progress I have lost. - Pre-COVID I decided to get better at swimming which is something I have never been strong at. I figured it was a good way to add extra cardio, save some of my aching joints, and stimulate my brain with something new to learn.... - Over the course of a few months I was making a ton of progress and just as I started to really get the hang of things, COVID came along and shut everything down. - Being that I am just a beginner when it comes to swimming and was forced to take a break that was months longer than I had even been practicing, I have lost almost all progress that I made. - I’ve been back to the pool a total of 3 times so far and it feels just the same as starting over. It’s very annoying and a bit frustrating to lose all progress and start all over but I won’t let that stop me from continuing my progress. I will continue to work on my swimming until I’m even better than I was before COVID! - Maybe you’re in a similar situation. Maybe you’ve been forced into a set back with your weight loss, strength or even something completely unrelated to fitness. Was it due to COVID, an injury, family related incident, something else? - Whatever it was that you were doing and whatever the cause, have you started working on it yet? I’ve been doing a lot of running and calisthenics lately and it’s been beating up my legs. Started adding yoga into my routine and it’s helped a lot. Recovery is important! Anybody else do yoga?
