A Change is Gonna' Come Our friends at the US National Weather Service Sacramento California tells us to be prepared for a change of weather this week. Precipitation chances begin in far northern California Friday morning. Colder air will drop snow levels quickly Friday, decreasing further into Saturday morning. There is a chance snow amounts will increase later this week.... Along with snow, there is a chance for some thunderstorms Friday afternoon in the Valley and foothills. Dry weather will be seen again by Monday as high pressure moves back over Northern California. See more

Celebrating EL DÍA DE MUERTOS During COVID-19 CELEBRANDO EL DÍA DE MUERTOS DURANTE EL COVID-19 This is a lovely video produced by King County (WA). Please enjoy...... Day of the Dead is a two-day pre-Hispanic tradition where we celebrate the memory of loved ones who have passed away. On this occasion, families, friends, and communities gather to bring back the heart, and honor the departed. Typically, Day of Dead involves setting up alters and offerings, making food, and enjoying festivities with loved ones. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the celebrations will continue even if they look different. In the video below, three King County employees share how they will be safely celebrating Day of the Dead with their families during this pandemic to protect the community. The video has English captions. https://youtu.be/97x_xhjVls0 EDC Health & Human Services El Dorado County, CA - Government

BOO! Prepare for Bumps in the Night! It’s so easy to focus on what we can’t do right now. But many aspects of celebrating Halloween can still happen with our families just as they always have. You can still decorate the house for Halloween.... You can still wear a Halloween costume. You can still carve or decorate pumpkins. You can still close your eyes at the scary parts during Halloween Movie Night with your family. Your kids can still eat too much Halloween candy. You can still enjoy a family meal together. See more

Although it's getting chilly, our friends at Tahoe Living With Fire suggest that we hold off on moving firewood closer to our home. They recommend keeping wood piles at least 30 feet from any structure while wildfire threat remains. Learn what else it takes to prepare & prevent wildfires: www.ReadyForWildfire.org

Good Morning! It's Weather-Ready Wednesday. Even though these fall days are beautiful, there remains no significant rainfall in sight. CalFIRE tells us that California remains dry and ripe for wildfires. Take time this week to sign up for emergency alerts before a fire or other emergency occurs. Encourage a friend, family member or neighbor to sign up for the alerts in their county. Go to: www.calalerts.org/signup.html. Learn more about other ways to be ready for any emergency by visiting www.ReadyForWildfire.org.

What’s Your Power Plan? If the power in your home goes out before you can evacuate from a wildfire, your escape can become much more challenging, especially if it is dark outdoors. No lights, being unable to open your garage door and finding your go-bag are just a few of the obstacles for which you should be prepared. Monday Reset As we move into the school year and into fall, it’s time to reset and renew our commitment to reducing the spread of COVID-19 in our communities, for everyone’s sake. It’s more important than ever to mask up, stay at least 6-feet distant from others and limit our contacts with people outside our households. We can all do this, even though it’s hard.
