Reflecting back on the trip we took to Mexico in 2019 as we prepare and plan for traveling to the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve in 2022. Please read this testimonial from one of our generous donors who traveled with us and what they have to say about ECOLIFE Conservation. #monarchbutterflies #givestoves #conservation #humanity #ecolifeconservation Learn more at www.ecolifeconservation.org

COOKING Should Not Kill - air pollution from cooking over an open fire kills 4.3 million people every year. Help us save families by donating to our stove program #givestoves #cookingshouldnotkill #stoveprogram https://www.ecolifeconservation.org/donate/

The UNESCO Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve experiences deforestation on a daily basis. The deforestation results in these monarchs having no home during their migration. The goal of our Patsari stoves in Mexico is to reduce the need for firewood, and therefore reduce deforestation as an end. Save the Monarchs! #monarch #butterfly #migration #deforestation #biosphere

The monarch butterfly's silhouette is distinctive for being long and graceful. A recent study of non-migrating monarchs showed insights into how this shape might be tied to the species' long history of migration: "Monarchs are native to North America, but have also established non-migrating populations in the Caribbean, Central and South America, and islands in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans... Over time, the wings of these colonists got smaller." According to this study from UC Davis, "Migration selects for longer, larger forewings while non-migration seems to relax this and lead to smaller wings." https://www.sciencedaily.com/releas/2020//201102173234.htm

Such a precious little smile Everyday, our stoves are hard at work saving women & children's lungs. It's estimated that 27 million people in Mexico still use firewood for cooking and suffer the many health effects of smoke inhalation. Women and children are more affected because they spend more time around cookstoves. On average, women spend 2-4 hours a day breathing smoke, and young children are exposed during a critical period of lung development. Our Patsari stoves funn...el smoke away from these vulnerable respiratory systems. So let's keep building! #safecooking #habitat #home #community

Did you know that tomatoes are one of the most common aquaponically grown crops because they need such precise growing conditions? This means that, by growing tomatoes with aquaponics, people across the world can have tomatoes grown so much closer to home than if they are grown in Mexico or Chile! What better combo than enjoying a fresh tomato and reducing your carbon footprint at the same time! #healthy #delicious #fresh #tomatoes #organic #aquaponics #fishfarming #farming #homegrown

With school back in session, our teachers are using their ECO-Cycle Aquaponics Kits to get students excited about sustainability remotely. Mr. Cooper, a math, science & oceanography teacher at All Tribes Charter School, said, I have had a really cool experience being back at school and having students Zoom in with me. I have shown students their tank and they were so stoked to see the greens growing the way they are. We have been feeding the fish and the tank does the rest. Very fun, and kids really feel hope when they see their seeds growing. Do you know a classroom that would benefit from an ECO-Cycle Aquaponics Kit?

Tilapia and Koi are some of the most commonly used fish for aquaponics! One of the hidden benefits of aquaponics is that not only are systems able to provide leafy greens and vegetables to communities but aquaponic systems grow a protein source as well: fish! This is especially important for developing countries where emphasis on sustainable farming practices and nutritious output is vital for a community to thrive. Not only does a community have healthy veggies but also a nutritious protein source! #sustainability #fish #farming #healthy #ecosystem #fresh #ecofriendly

The Patsari Stove is specifically designed for the traditional Mexican diet! It features 3 cooking surfaces: 1 comal, a griddle-like surface for cooking tortillas, and 2 smaller comales that can be used to simultaneously cook both a pot of beans and rice. The internal chambers are highly efficient at distributing heat, meaning it burns hotter for longer and uses far less firewood for fuel. This safer, newer stove works together with tradition to protect the environment. #tradition #safecooking #environmentallyfriendly #family
