Our 3 Vaqueros of the Week are Erik Walker, Hafeez Merali, and William Schares. These three gentlemen received commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corp. for their amazing efforts on the PSAT test. Erik scored in the top 3% nationally, and Hafeez and William scored in the top 1%! Additional info on these outstanding Vaqueros: Erik is part of our Global Language and Leadership Program (GLLP). He has participated in Golf, Volleyball, and is the current Presiden...t of the Board Game Club. Erik is also a co-editor for our Yearbook. His dream school is UC Berkeley, and he would enjoy going into Mechanical Engineering. Hafeez has been part of several clubs at El Capitan, including Academic League and serving as Vice President of the Board Game Club. He's in GLLP, and is proud of winning Chinese Bridge and going to China to complete. He'd love to attend a top-ranked university and study Political Science/International Relations. His career goal is to work for the government in foreign policy. William is trilingual (English, Spanish, Mandarin) and has participated in the Creative Writing Club, Cross Country, and Track and Field. His dream school is Stanford, where he'd like to study Applied and Engineering Physics. His career goal is to become an author. Congrats gentlemen! See more
