Hi all, A while back I posted about a survey I was conducting looking at the pre-exercise nutrition habits of endurance athletes. I want to thank everyone who filled it out and/or shared it. Nearly 2,000 athletes ended up completing the survey, and the results have now been published in two journal articles. I made a short video talking about some of the key findings. ... https://www.eatsleep.fit//pre-exercise-nutrition-habits-o/ Overall, a lot of athletes perform fasted training (~63%), males perform fasted training more than females, people following low-carb or periodized-carb diets perform more fasted training than those following other dietary patterns, and many people perform fasted training because they think it helps their training, while others avoid fasted training because they do not think it helps their training. Also, fewer than half of athletes vary their pre-exercise nutrition choices based on workout duration, workout intensity, or mode of workout and nearly all factors measured relating to pre-exercise nutrition intake vary by sex, competitive level, and/or habitual dietary pattern. The full details are here. Great analysis of our recent studies looking at the effects of swimming on subsequent cycling!

Ever wonder why some people say you should always eat before exercise, yet others say it’s better to train in the fasted state? I wrote a new blog post looking at some of the arguments for and against eating before exercise. Feel free to share if it's helpful! https://www.eatsleep.fit//to-eat-or-not-to-eat-before-exe/
Hi all! This is the final day of this survey and we would love to get as many responses as possible! As part of my PhD that I’m doing with Dr. Dan Plews looking at pre-exercise nutrition, we are trying to better understand how endurance athletes fuel prior to workouts. If you haven't already, would you mind filling out an anonymous 10-min survey about what you eat before workouts? Would be very much appreciated! http://bit.ly/AUTsurvey
