On Friday September 25, 2020, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a law that strengthens and expands mental health parity protections in California. This law is good news for participants in both group and individual healthcare insurance policies, and bad news for insurance companies. Co-Founding Partner Lisa S. Kantor, working with other mental health advocates and one of the bill’s sponsors, was instrumental in the development of this law.

"Gomez’s dual experience as a client and therapist exposes a mental health parity issue that doesn’t get much attention: Even driven therapists face major hurdles navigating the fractured U.S. health care system. Their struggle may be invisible, but it interferes with their ability to deliver good mental health care."
