Nobody calls an attorney and ask for a discount. Why? Because they already know what the answer is going to be. Make them respect your business. If they can't afford your price, they are not your target market. Kindly suggest that they choose to hire someone within their price range. And don't you dare feel any kind of way for saying no. Wow, there is so much misinformation being given by online gurus in sponsored ads, it's freaking mind blowing. They’ve got folks out here thinking that social media is the only strategy to gain new customers. It’s sad that so many startup business owners believe the BS they’re reading in these ads. Stop believing these inexperienced gurus that tell you social media is the only marketing option to grow your business. Listen, cold email, direct mail, cold calling, networking, ...etc. is not dead. These marketing strategies still work very well for gaining new customers. The proper way to use social media is to send potential customers to your web site, sales page, landing page, opt into a email list and provide valuable content regarding your particular field of expertise. Yes, you gotta keep your content game flowing everyday, and on multiple social media platforms so that you remain top of mind with your online audience. You also must get from behind your computer and connect with people in person. Attending networking events can result in a meeting a new customer. Public speaking at different community groups can also result in gaining new customers. Volunteering at local events can help you gain attention and new customers. You gotta invest time in online and offline marketing. Both are equally important when growing a business.
