Sometimes the best creative move you can make is to finish what you started. We’ve got a project in the hopper that is perfect for these hard times and we need help to get ‘er done. EBP needs support to survive this pandemic and thrive for the long haul - please help if you can!

Over several years EBP owner Faye Stevenson designed and created a step by step program for building a home Pilates practice and now we are asking for your help to bring it to market. Please check out the gofundme project and help if you are able. Please share the project if you are inclined to help in that way. Thank you! Team EBP

While humanity continues to grapple with challenges that only a few foresaw, Mother Nature grows on in her own thyme. Everything will be all right, somehow, someway, someday.

He spent a day in the gymnasium with Joe Pilates in 1961. To a young photographer with minimal interest in exercise living in a society that had yet to understand what Joe already knew about the ...many benefits of exercise, it was difficult to answer these questions, What good does Pilates do for me? Why should I do Pilates? Joe Gave him this simple and clear explanation. Nearly 60 years later, as we all are faced with COVID-19, immunity boosting is a concrete action we can each take. Here’s Chuck’s recollection of Joe’s explanation: You have these firemen on their trucks parking in firehouses all around in your body, here and here, he pointed to his armpits, his neck and groin. They are waiting to put out the fires in your body fires that start when there is the germs coming inside when you have a cut. An open wound. Then the alarm goes off and the firetrucks rush to the trouble this is happening all the time. But, when you have the everyday aches and pains, also, the firemen are going, busy, busy all the time. Look at all the people on the streets now, how they are walking around in pain all the time. The firemen, they are so busy putting out these fires from these stupid things. So, with Contrology, when you practice this, the body is healthy and in good shape and the firemen, they are quiet in their firehouses and when the bad germs come, like influenza or bronchitis, there is plenty of firetrucks ready to go out and kill them read Chuck's full post about his day with Joe here: http://icrapoport.com/a-day-with-joseph-pilates/

Quarantine life in full swing, a task to do at every turn (more than can fit in a day which I find exhausting) - at least the cat is happy with his morning bamboo treat!

It ain’t pretty, but it gets the job done! Here’s where I teach from these days. Thank goodness I live so close to the studio, that I can pop over to a peaceful space for virtual sessions. And I get to tend to our seedlings too. Three cheers for being flexible and changing with the times! Together we can do this! Here’s a link to the newsletter that gives all the info needed to join the EBP virtual studio:... https://mailchi.mp//east-bay-pilates-happenings-january-85 See more

Anouk, Faye, and Marta are all available for remote classes via FaceTime or Zoom while the studio is closed TEMPORARILY though April 7th. Scheduling and billing are set up through our usual systems and Desi is working from home to support as usual. We need this support to minimize the income loss of having to close the studio to aid in flattening the expansion curve of COVID-19. Join and Support East Bay Pilates Staff during Shelter-In-Place! We are in this together - albe...it, apart. Video classes are far more fun than you may think, and a real salve to our weary souls as we integrate so much change in such a short time. Please also consider supporting us and our studio space by subscribing to our Quarantine Workouts Program - weekly classes that we will record and you can attend in your home on your own schedule. We will open this program if we have enough backers, please complete this survey to let us know that you will participate: https://forms.gle/Y2zLNaPuPa7ym2Qx8

EBP is going Virtual! We are setting up online classes this week. Please support our instructors and our studio by joining us for a class online. We will have our website updated ASAP to direct registrations. Supporting small businesses is so important as we all face dramatic reductions in our income and radical changes in in ways of operating. As with the body, so it goes with business - being nimble and adaptable is important in times like these.

And we have sprouts! It takes faith to keep watering plain brown dirt. Makes that moment when the green pops through all the more gratifying!

We’ve begun to plant literal seeds at East Bay Pilates. I thought it would be a good learning exercise. Today, as I watered the soil in which I know that there are seeds, but see no evidence of them yet other than the toothpicks, I had a moment or two of concern. With that I realized that I’m already a bit impatient to see a bit of green. And also a bit anxious that perhaps not a single seed will germinate and we will just have little pots of soil until I abandon the proj...ect. Ah well, we must face the despairing thoughts as they arise. This moment of worry led me to an idea that I confirmed with a couple online searches - seeds probably begin by growing downward (that’s right, they do). Just as we all must have a solid foundation, one that we cannot necessarily see but one that makes every success we eventually have possible, so does the seed need strong roots in order to sprout upward towards the light.
