Available Rocky is about 1 year old, male, pitty mixed guy. He is approx 55lbs and will need a family who is at least semi active and who wants to make him part of the family. So far he is a mellow guy who gets along with other dogs and all people. He is crate trained, and potty trained. Not sure about cats. Per the trainers: Rocky is a younger who needs guidance with a very small amount of jumping. He is mellow and follows guidance easily. Rocky is a dominant dog, so h...e will not do well in a home with other dominant dogs. We would prefer him to be the only male dog in the home and the owner to be big dog savy and Pit Bull savy is a bonus. Success Sunday Who remembers our little pitty crew of 2018 called the Dragons? They were taken out of a very bad situation in Antioch during the holidays. I remember well because once we got them safe and fed them little meals 4 times a day due to extreme malnutrition, they came down with Parvo. Formally Kamala, now Ruby. ***Part 2 of Jewel's story*** After the hospital deemed her physically stable, our very own Vet Technician Gina brought her home. In the months that followed; Jewel had gained confidence and has learned to trust again. Her body was healing and he spirit was a little less broken. She has learned a few commands and is very food motivated. She learned that a crate is not something to be feared. ... Ebarr looked long and hard for a perfect home; that understood her trauma. We were not successful. Jewel lives with one of our trainers and his family. She loves them as much as they love her. She still wears her trauma on her sleeve, however they understand her......and thats what she needs. Ebarr will provide a loving safe.home for every simgle animal in our care forever if needed, and that costs money. These long term residents do have monthy expenses. ***St Pitty's Month:Pit Bull Spotlight*** Jewel's Story Fall 2018 Jewel was brought to Sage Veterinary Center for emergency medical treatment after being confiscated by Contra Costa Animal Services for severe neglect. Jewel was so broken and only weighed 26lbs. She was malnourished, emaciated, covered in fleas, unable to walk or stand on her own and just days away from death. ... To make matters worse, Jewel had given birth a few months prior to being rescued due to extended nipples. Clearly her people only cared about money due to the she was in and her only use to them was for being used for breeding, and her wellbeing was no consideration in this hell hole. During her time at Sage, she got used to the company of the Veterinary staff because they showed a special interest in her. How could you not? .......to see an innocent animal in those vile conditions and know a money hungry human systematically starved her was just too much for their hearts and minds to comprehend. This sweet girl had gone through so much: her body was broken, and her trust in humans should bave been broken........however she had not given up. Update on Lovely We held off due to the emergency we had this week with Sally. Her surgery had the best possible outcome it could have. The large mass was right at the leg/knee joint where there is very little skin to stich back up. The mass was removed, and it looked like an angry tumor. We waited on pins and needles for 6 days to find out that it is not showing signs of cancer. After 3 bandage changes, she is healing nicely. ... What an emotional ride..........but it seems every animal is lately. We have almost raised enough for her bill, but need just a bit more. Sally is back to her sweet muffin making self and on her way home! We would really like to thank everyone for all the love and support she received. Sally will be back at SAGE in a week for a recheck bandage change. She had a lot of open wounds and bandages should be changed a little bit sooner than 10 to 14 days for the first couple of weeks. Dr. Steele & Dr. Aitken were very impressed with her progress this afternoon.

Sally keeps fighting for us and has made some good progress overnight. She is holding herself up and eating. This is a huge improvement. Thank you for everyones words of encouragement and support. I really cant wait to see her this morning and hear from the doctor. I will update everyone later today.

We need everyone to keep Sally in your thoughts and prayers tonight. We just received a call from Dr. Beverly and he is very concerned about Sally's dull mentation. With the amount of trauma she had the concern is that she may have thrown a clot to her brain. She is being put on supportive medications in hopes she will come around on her own and hopefully keep her from having anymore clots. I cannot tell you guys how devastating this news is right now but we will give her the best opportunity to recover. I know she is in the best of hands. #PrayForSally

Sally is out of surgery!! She is wearing her new hardware and in recovery. Sally had spiked a fever and will be staying the night on iv fluids, pain meds and antibiotics. Dr. Aitken did a fabulous job and we are so very grateful for his work. It was a very long surgery because the amount of work needed. His hope is to send her home tomorrow. Sally will require multiple future visits to check the progress of healing and check bandages. Thanks to everyone who shared and d...onated we now have a total of $1400.00. Update on Chip This little guy is suffering from severe skin allergies and infections from years of neglect. Chip visited the Vet last week and not only does he have a very painful ear infection and severe fungal/bacterial skin infection, he also has a conditon called dry eye. He can't produce enough tears to lubricate his eyes, causing terrible discomfort. This is a life long condition that requires medication twice a day. This medication runs from $40 to $60, this depends... on the size of the tube. He will also need to be tested at least every six months to make sure condition has improved and won't require other treatments. He received a series of multiple medications at the Vet to be treated at home. He is very food motivated and medicating him is not a problem, as long as there are pill pockets involved.
