Do the twist! Keeping your head and shoulders facing your computer, twist your hips and legs to the right or left. To get a bit of a stretch along the outer thigh as well, cross the leg closest to your computer over the top. #pelvicfloorphysio #pelvicfloorphysicaltherapy #pelvichealth #stretches #deskstretch #deskstretches #workfromhome @ East Sacramento Physical Therapy

Adductors! Scoot to the edge of your chair to allow your hips to move more freely. With ankles under knees, spread knees apart and tilt the pelvis forward. The tilt in the pelvis is key! Use your hands to gently keep your knees from rolling inward. Try it with a theraband tied just below the knees, and from the same postition actively pull the knees back. #pelvichealth #pelvicfloorphysio #pelvicfloorpt #stretches #deskstretch #deskstretches #workfromhome @ East Sacramento Physical Therapy

Get a little hip extension during that meeting! Swivel your chair sideways and sit with one hip supported by the chair and the opposite leg extended behind you. The key to this stretch is to sit up straight and tuck your tailbone. You should feel this along the front of your extended hip. Try a variation by bending the knee that's off the chair, but remember to tuck the tailbone. #pelvichealth #pelvicfloorphysio #pelvicfloorpt #stretches #deskstretch #deskstretches #workfromhome @ East Sacramento Physical Therapy

Don't neglect that internal rotation! Here's another below-the-camera stretch for those long meetings. When you set this up, scoot to the front of your chair to... allow your hips to rotate more freely. Make sure ankles are parallel to knees, not behind, and toes point forward. Check out previous post for more! #pelvichealth #pelvicfloorphysio #pelvicfloorpt #stretches #deskstretch #deskstretches #workfromhome @ East Sacramento Physical Therapy

Has working from home been a literal pain in the butt (or low back, tailbone, or pelvis)? Mix it up with some below-the-camera seated stretches during your vide...o meetings. The figure 4 stretches the external rotators of your hip, including your piriformis, obturators, and gluts, which can feel tight if you sit all day. Try it out! #pelvichealth #pelvicfloorphysio #pelvicfloorphysicaltherapy #pelvicfloorpt #stretches #deskstretch #deskstretches #workfromhome @ East Sacramento Physical Therapy

Ask your PT about lube! What is the difference between water based, oil based, and silicone based lubricant? What is the difference between a lubricant and a moisturizer, and when should you use each? What are the differences between brands of lubricant, and what should you be looking for when selecting one? Your pelvic PT can discuss different types of lubricants and moisturizers and which one might be right for you. We also have samples and coupons so you can take a few for a test run. Don't be shy. We love talking lube! #pelvichealth #pelvicfloorphysio #pelvicfloorphysicaltherapy #lubricant #sexualhealth

While we are focusing on men’s health awareness this month let’s not forget about men’s mental health! Depression affects a large number of men! This is something that doesn’t get talked about enough, especially by men! According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH): Men are less likely than women to recognize, talk about and seek treatment for depression. This may be because they think it might make them sound weak, afraid they might be judged and they don’t w...ant family or friends to know something is wrong. Men’s symptoms of depression may also be different from women. Men may appear angry or aggressive, anxious and irritable instead of sad and hopeless but more likely to die by suicide. Globally every minute, a man dies by suicide. In the U.S., 75% of suicide deaths are men. Depression is NOT a sign of WEAKNESS! Asking for help is a sign of STRENGTH! If you think someone you care about has depression, what can you do? Ask Talk and offer support Listen Encourage action: to talk to his doctor or a mental health professional or help him find someone Check in National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1 (800) 273-TALK (8255)
