HELLBOY DAY was 3 years ago, so where are they now? Well, the lovely Mignolas, Mike and Christine, have brought forth the Mike Mignola Quarantine Sketchbook. As Christine explains in her elegant intro to this magnificent tome, when the lockdown came, Mike started drawing some things he would normally not. Everything from Hanna-Barbera characters to breakfast cereal mascots to memorable movie monsters (pictured). Christine organized auctions of the sketches to raise money... for Jose Andres' World Central Kitchen, which is devoted to feeding those in emergency situations such as the storms in Puerto Rico and, of course, the pandemic. Proceeds from the Sketchbook--on sale in both Earth-2 locations--also go toward the same cause. Meanwhile, our friend Jim Demonakos has been compiling a documentary about Mike and raising funds on Kickstarter. Earth-2 apparenlty makes a special guest appearance! As do some of our customers! 18 years ago today, Earth-2 Comics Sherman Oaks opened its doors for the first time. It was a soft opening, not much fanfare, mostly family and friends... but it was our shop. There are multiple covers for each issue, so we recommend placing a reservation for this event to ensure you get the cover you want... Each issue had a main cover featuring one of the 3 Jokers, a B cover featuring the heroes most impacted by Joker--Batman, Batgirl and the Red Hood--and three additional "premium" covers showcasing a different aspect of the Joker's history.
