One revolutionary aspect of the #Eames Molded Plywood Seating was that, with no upholstery at all, it provided the kind of comfort that furniture designers traditional could only achieve with bulky padding. That said, an upholstered version is still a lovely option for this design! Save 15% + Free Shipping until 2/1. https://eames.link/hm-sale

Late 1945 through early 1946 marked a time in which the #Eames LCW made its debut to the furniture market, at the Barclay Hotel in New York City, and in various marketplaces in Chicago and Grand Rapids. This 1946 photograph displays the LCW and its early cycle-welded shock mounts, an experimental method honed during the production process.

While the Eames Office conjured up a plan for a city hall (unbuilt), Charles began to think about the responsibility of voting. He remarked, The government talks to the people. And the people talk to the government. The administration of the government is the business of the people. Let’s make our government our business by voting today. eames.link/responsibility-to-vote

In 2017, The Eames Office re-introduced the Toy, bringing it back for the first time in over 60 years. (https://eames.link/the-eames-toy)

MoMA The Museum of Modern Art hosted an international furniture design competition in 1948, motivated by the urgent need in the postwar period for new furniture and housing solutions. The designs submitted by the #EamesOffice were for furniture produced from stamped aluminum or steel, resins, and wood.
"Any time one or more things are consciously put together in a way that they can accomplish something better than they could have accomplished individually, this is an act of design." - Charles #Eames
In 1972, the #Eames Office created a film introducing Polaroid Corporation's revolutionary SX-70 instant-photography camera.
We felt very free about painting the house. We felt that we could experimentwe could try a color and see its relationship to others, then, if we didn’t like it, we could simply change it. But, in fact, we haven’t changed it." - Ray Eames (eames.link/casestudy8)

The Chaise was designed for film director Billy Wilder, after Charles heard him remark (while on set for one of his movies) about his need for a long, narrow couch for afternoon naps. That comment stuck in Charles’s mind, and thirteen years later, it became this 17.5 wide designone that is perfect for perching and resting. #archivesmonth
