STUDENT DIRECTOR SPOTLIGHT// It's an exciting day! We've started our very first student directed numbers. I love trying new things, and I love watching students step into opportunities with such bravery and passion. ... Student Directors are assigned a number. They get to select a cast from a list of students, and then they are able to stage, choreograph, and costume the number. I mentor them through the whole process and offer them support and guidance, but for the most part I sit back and let them show their magic. It's their number and they know just what to do! My hope is that through these opportunities, students will learn skills and leadership qualities that they can use outside of the studio. I also hope this gives students more insight and appreciation for the creative process, and shows them a variety of ways that they can use their talents. This is Day 1, and I'm already so excited seeing how this all translates in the classroom. The directors are pumped, and the students are gracious and eager to learn! and surprise, we are taking our student directed numbers to competition this year! Great job Sofia Naccarato, we're so proud of you! This number is going to rock!
