COVID-19 Mask Alternative Project The University of Florida Health’s department of anesthesiology has developed 2 prototypes for respirator masks that can be p...roduced in large quantities using materials already found in hospitals and medical facilities. In this link, you will see two variations with a pdf of the materials list and a video tutorial. This alternative has passed the respiratory test. I have organized both the supplies and a sewing team in Los Angeles to start with 600 masks to be sent to local hospitals and healthcare workers in need. Each mask costs in material and labor approximately $3.30. I am working to secure more Halyard H600 materials. The local sewing team I have gathered have recently lost their jobs so this will also give them work. I am raising funds to keep this project going 600 masks at a time and they will be sent to the most vulnerable in need. Please let me know if you’d like to help me make these masks, and please donate to the fundraiser for materials and labor costs. I’m putting a team together and can assemble these mask making kits as needed.

Musicians and Performing Artists...I would like to offer Duvin as a personal venue for you to create an online concert. The only requirement is that this is o...nly for solo artists, as I do not want to contribute to any gathering against the recommended ‘stay at home’ order. The concerts can be held with zoom technology and you can charge for the concert through PayPal or Venmo. For the last 5 years that I’ve had the pleasure of operating Duvin, I’ve met some incredible musicians. This is a very difficult time right now since people cannot gather to listen to music. This seems like a great way to support our artists. Note: The space will be cleaned and sanitized for each performance. Each musician/artist is responsible for your own equipment and filming. DM me. I’ll be happy to promote and market your concert and 100% of the proceeds go to the artists.

UPDATE SATURDAY: With temperatures dropping and rain, it is now critical to add these items to our needed donations: Rain gear... Jackets Soap Bottled water Blankets Hot liquids both keep people warm and kill the virus in the throat. Please, if you’re out today, stop by a coffee shop and pick up a few to distribute. Even if you can help one person, it makes a difference. The donation collection will continue at Duvin even as I make my way back to LA, so please keep the donations coming. I have a team in place to continue the distributions. Also, I will be setting up a donation collection area in LA to continue this for our unsheltered and vulnerable neighbors. Now is not a time for judgment; we are all in this together. IF ANY OTHER SMALL BUSINESSES OR COMMUNITIES IN OAKLAND OR LA WANT TO JOIN THIS PROGRAM, PLEASE DM ME. Thank you. In light of the current health situation, I find that we are all panicked and continually thinking about this. I wholeheartedly agree that we must take this seriously and take care of ourselves and loved ones, now more than ever. And I also believe that we need to be of service to others less fortunate, especially now. Being of service takes our mind off of our fear. Fear and stress lowers the immune system. Being of service and giving gratitude for every breath we can take, boosts our immune system. And with this said, I am collecting hand sanitizers, wipes, soap, tissues, Aloe Vera and Alcohol (for making homemade sanitizers), socks, and whatever else you think may comfort an unsheltered person. There will be a box outside of Duvin starting this afternoon. I will be putting together care packages to be dropped off to the most vulnerable in Oakland. There are many people living on the streets, without any support. Let’s all take care of ourselves and also recognize we are all inter-connected, and as humans rely on each other. Thank you.

Fellow Duvin Fans If you have been by Duvin in the last two months, you have almost certainly noticed the Closed red sign on our door. It turns out the Health Department never completed its permitting process of us from the day we opened. Somehow this slipped through a crack on either their end or ours.
