Just got word that the ONLY historical museum in California that is open again as of yesterday is the Pleasant Valley one in Camarillo...at the request of the Ventura County Health Department!...closed since late March, it officially reopened this past weekend, but had to cancel its annual meeting, despite pleas from the City Council and VCHD(including their fundraising dinner set for next month)... Come to Camarillo and check it out...on Las Posas Road, one mile northeast of the 101 Freeway!...open every weekend from 11 am to 4 pm!

Just got word from L.A. County Public Health boss-from-hell Barbara Ferrer that ALL historical museums in the County will remain closed until August 1!!!...including OURS!!!

Condolences go out to the El Monte Historical Society on the passing of long-time museum curator Dorothy Crippen(her late husband Jack started Crippen Ambulance in 1948)...died last month at age 91... Services are at Valley Community Church, 3039 Santa Anita in El Monte on Friday, June 12 @ 11 am...unless ordered cancelled by Mayor Andre Quintero...

Breaking news:instead of a planned reopening of Wednesday, April 3, Gov. Newsom extended the mandatory closure of ALL historical museums statewide to mid-May!!!...which means the Barbie exhibit will probably be extended to late June at the earliest... Wish us luck...

We had just barely put in the latest display(the 61st anniversary of Barbie) when Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered ALL historical museums statewide closed until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic... Apologies for the inconvenience, but when Gavin and the L.A. County Public Health Department says close down or else, you do what they say!... In other historical society news, the annual fundraiser for Moreno Valley Historical Society(in mid-April) was postponed until Oct...ober... A "coup" took place in January when the Temple City Woman's Club completely took over control of the Historical Society from the community... Still awaiting word from Wildomar Historical Society about the future of the Brown family home...
