The Food and drug administration approved the first cancer treatment that genetically alters patients' own immune cells to attack childhood leukemia. In the clinical the modified cells induced a remission in 83% of 63 young patients with a certain type of leukemia. However, the cost of one time infusion of so-called "CAR-T cells" is $475,000.
