Important Update for our Patients: Governor Newson's Stay at Home Order announced on Thursday DOES NOT INCLUDE DENTAL CARE. We encourage you not to miss your child's dental appointment as we have seen way too many dental emergencies resulting from missed appointments during the initial lockdown. Infection control has ALWAYS been a top priority for us. Please be assured that WE HAVE MET AND EXCEEDED DENTAL SAFETY GUIDELINES AS THEY RELATE TO COVID-19 . In addition to our reg...ular infection control policies, we have made the following additions: (1) Before you enter our office we do a medical interview/screening, temperature check, and you must santizier both your hands and feet at our sanitzing station. We have limited our schedule so that as our waiting room only allows one patient at a time for check-in and check-out. (2) Every room in the practice has been upgraded with one (1) UV Air Sanitizer (featuring ozone-free technology) that utilizes ultraviolet lamp technology to kill up to 99.9% of airborne viruses, bacteria, black mold and fungal growth, and reduces odors and respiratory allergens. This reduces airborne transmission of viruses, influenza, and colds. (3) Every room in the practice has also been upgraded with one (1) air purifier with a HEPA Filter that also has UV-C light technology. This air purifier is capable of performing at least 16 air exchanges per hour in each of our rooms. That means, that every molecule of air in the room goes through the HEPA filter and UV-C light at least sixteen times an hour. According to the CDC, that means 99.9% of the airborne contaminants from the air gets removed within 28 minutes or less. (3) After each patient is dismissed from the room, the room is wiped down and then an additional standalone commercial grade, ozone-free, UV room sanitizer is placed into the room to further disinfect the surfaces and air using UV energy. To monitor disinfection, a YELLOW color UV test label is placed in several strategic locations through out the patient room before the ozone-free UV room sanitizer is activated. The yellow UV test label turns a GREEN color to provide visual confirmation that sufficient amount UV energy has been applied to safely disinfect surrounding surfaces and air. Each of our patient rooms will be closed for disinfection for 35 minutes after the patient is dismissed from the room to allow for proper disinfection (well above CDC’s recommendations). These HEPA purifiers will be running 24-7 to maximize your protection. (4) Our team is in full PPE at all times and we require all parents and patients to wear a mask when not in treatment. Shields are also encouraged. Please call us with any additional questions you may have . Your safety is our priority. Best, Team Pediatric Dental Center

Halloween may look a little bit different this year but that doesn’t mean we won’t be celebrating! We love Halloween! Here are some tips we’ve giving our patients: (1) Avoid sticky treats and hard candy. Sorry Jolly Ranchers and Skittles!... (2) TIME IT: don’t let your kids snack on candy throughout the day. It’s better to have right after meals or shortly after mealtime. Saliva production increases during meals. This helps cancel out acids produced by bacteria in your mouth and rinse away food particles. No matter how pooped out your kids are from the Halloween Fun remember: THEY Must Brush and FLOSS Twice a Day Regular visits to your pediatric dentist can help prevent problems from occurring and catch those that do occur early, when they are easy to "treat." And PS: don’t forget to support the Teal pumpkin Project : Www.foodallergy.org

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR OUR PATIENTS REGARDING AEROSOL TRANSMISSION OF COVID-19 AND HOW WE ARE PREVENTING IT. Today, 10/5/20202, the CDC put out an update on COVID-19 transmission. Since then, we have been receiving phone calls from concerned parents regarding prevention measures in our office. Regarding our waiting room and your child's operators: relate to COVID-19. In addition to our regular infection control policies (mask wearing, glove wearing, wiping down of all rooms), ...the following COVID-19 Prevention Techniques have been put in place: (1) Every room in the practice, including our waiting room and our hallways, has been upgraded with one (1) UV Air Sanitizer (featuring ozone-free technology) that utilizes ultraviolet lamp technology to kill up to 99.9% of airborne viruses, bacteria, black mold and fungal growth, and reduces odors and respiratory allergens. This reduces airborne transmission of viruses, influenza, and colds. (2)Every room in the practice has also been upgraded with one air purifier with a HEPA Filter that also has UV-C light technology. Each of our patient rooms will be closed for disinfection for 35 minutes after the patient is dismissed from the room to allow for proper disinfection (well above CDC’s recommendations). These HEPA purifiers will be running 24-7 to maximize your protection. Also, please remember that by having incoming patients call first from the car and by checking you out and scheduling in advance, we are limiting the number of people in our waiting room at any given moment. ALL TEAM MEMBERS AND PATIENTS ARE SCREENED BEFORE ENTERING. We care about our team and your family and our doing our best to prevent anyone from getting sick. Please email our office directly with any other questions or concerns.

So many parents have been calling our office to ask for dental tips while their children are home. There's more snacking, more zoom, less water drinking, and less oral hygiene happening. Dr. Michelle has put together some tips for you for children age 0-18 (if they're not brushing by 18 then well...) and they are up on www.milowekids,com, on our webpage www.drmichelledds.com and here: Check out this article by our pediatric dentist, Dr. Michelle Kelman:

Prior to entering the office in the morning, each member of our team goes through a health and temperature screening before entering. Also, all surfaces are disinfected. We keep a close eye on any and all surfaces touched by our team members and patients.
