Here is one of my favorite inspirational quotes. This has been my life’s mantra. Make sure you are always doing things that scare you. That way you are always growing. Whether it was moving to Rhode Island for college, moving 3,000 miles away to a place where I knew no one to go to optometry school, joining the US Navy, marrying a Marine, moving to a remote island in Alaska, taking care of a NICU baby or trying to build my own business; every time I have done something that scared me, I have always come out a better person on the other side. I highly recommend it.

Hi friends! You know that I am BIG fan of safe beauty! Well, I am pleased to announce that some of my optometry colleagues have formulated some new products that are safe and dry eye friendly! The products available are a mini mascara, a liquid eyeliner, a facial serum, a facial cleanser and eye cleansing wipes. What makes them dry eye friendly? Well, they are free of parabens, phthalates, synthetic dyes and fragrances. Here are some highlights: Eye Cleansing Wipes- contain... aloe gel, calendula and hyaluronic acid to soothe and moisturize tired eyes. Mini-mascara- comes in a set of three to make it easier to replace. We recommend replacing mascara every 1-3 months to keep your eyes healthy. Liquid eyeliner- contains hyaluronic acid to help keep the eyelid skin moisturized. Facial serum- contains hyaluronic acid, resveratrol and olive leaf extract to help fight the signs of aging. Facial cleanser- contains olive leaf extract, fenugreek seed extract, and resveratrol to help fight signs of aging. Want to try it out? You can use the link below in the comments and the code winkwink to get 20% off your first order! Let me know if you have any questions. P.S. I am loving the lid cleansing wipes!

Had an enlightening time at House of Delegates this year. It was really great to meet so many new people and see a few old friends again. If you are a fellow CA optometrist and not a member of the COA, please consider joining. It is such an important organization. If you have any questions about becoming a member, please let me know. I would love to help!

I have a goal to read/listen to 20 books in 2020. My amazing sister-in-law got me into Audible and it has literally changed my life. I am now obsessed with Rachel Hollis after reading Girl, Wash Your Face and Girl, Stop Apologizing in January. Both are fantastic and I highly recommend checking them out. My next book for February is Dare to Lead by Brené Brown. I came across this quote and it really spoke to me (not just because I am an optometrist and spend my day ma...king people’s vision clear ). Seriously though, how much better would our lives be in our personal and professional space if we remembered this? We need to be clear with our intentions and possibly get out of our comfort zone in order to effect real change and progress. After all, when we are out of our comfort zone, that is when the magic happens. What is on your reading list for 2020? I’d love to hear it! See more
