Disliking the appearance of her nose her whole life, Susie spent about 6 years seriously considering undergoing rhinoplasty as well as a more permanent option for fillers. Over the years she researched extensively, watching videos online and even consulting with five different surgeon’s before making the decision to partner with Dr. Kian for a cosmetic rhinoplasty and pan-facial fat transfer. During initial consultation she expressed her concerns of having a drooping tip and ...excessive nostril show, which she felt gave her an unfriendly or unhappy appearance. Together Dr. Kian and Susie designed a nose that will more accurately reflect her personality consisting of a very conservative inflection of the bridge and a slight upturn of her tip. Completing her transformation Dr. Kian harvested and purified a small amount of fat tissue which was then enriched with Susie’s platelet-rich fibrin. The method of combining PRF to harvested fat enhances the tissue for a smoother injection and more precise placement. The PRF will also increase the take rate or survivability of fat, which is generally about 70% of the tissue. About 30 cc’s of fat was used to sculpt and define Susie’s cheeks, jawline and chin providing overall facial balance and harmony. Rhinoplasty with fat transfer was really a winning combination for Susie’s goals and one of Dr. Kian’s favorite treatment options for its natural looking and permanent results.

In the realm of what we do, there are deviated septum's and there are ’. Brian’s septum was one of the top ten most difficult deviated septum's that I've faced in my career. His septum was so deviated that it curled left and right from the front to the back, on both sides! There was cartilage AND bone that was so deviated and curved it was totally unusable. I actually had to remove the whole thing and replace it, making this more of a reconstructive septoplast...y. When I was removing it, even my surgical tech was shocked by its irregular shape! I took the entire front part of the septum out, which supports the structure of the nose so it doesn’t fall flat on the face, and replaced it. All in all, this was very challenging but it couldn’t have gone better. Now Brian is going to have a straightened septum with unobstructed airways for the rest of his life. See more

We covered advanced topics including the anatomical layers of skin, fat and muscle, neurotoxin and filler injection techniques with needle and microcannula, and PDO threads. Educating practitioners in an anatomy lab is an incredibly rewarding experience for me personally and allows each participant to receive truly unparalleled knowledge in a format that no book can teach.
