The Heart corresponds to the Fire element in Chinese Medicine. When awakened, the kindness and compassion of the Heart is timeless medicine.

Tomorrow is the day! Looking forward to Dr. Ng’s Cantonese opera performance and seeing our beloved friends!
Our clinic outings are all-vegetarian! Many of the famous dim sum selections are meat-based, but here we are able to find a tasty spread that is completely vegetarian.
These four Chinese characters are separately: sword, gallbladder, zither (a musical instrument), and heart. But the overall meaning in Chinese makes sense! Together, the characters can translate to the courage of a swordsman, and the heart of a musician. The practice of Chinese Medicine requires a precious balance of daring courage and refined sensitivity and kindness, which takes a lifetime to cultivate.
The countdown begins! Less than 3 weeks before Dr. Ng’s Cantonese opera performance!
Introducing the cartoon version of Dr. Ng! (Graphic design by Grace Talice Lee!)
Traditional Chinese Medicine has a rich history of great practitioners whose efforts singlehandedly shaped and changed the field forever - doctors throughout the ages who choose to go beyond the standard, do more than what's expected, strive to improve every day, and are willing to go out of their comfort zone to meet people where they're at, to be inclusive of all people regardless of their racial/cultural/socioeconomic backgrounds.
The heart of a medicine man or woman is the same no matter what culture one comes from. To be trusted by fellow humans is no small responsibility. In Chinese culture, the role of the disciple is to be fully devoted to the teachings and to the teacher. And in ancient Western medicine, it was no different. "I will impart a knowledge of the art to my own sons, and those of my teachers, and to disciples bound by a stipulation and oath according to the law of medicine, but to none others." (Hippocratic Oath)
Intern's Notebook~ "Training to be a doctor of Chinese medicine involves seeing the whole picture while at the same time focusing on the details. The constant question to ask yourself: what is the most important thing to do right now? And then, go do it!"
