Homemade Lemonade to prevent and address kidney stones! One of the easiest things you can do to prevent kidney stones is to drink lemonade. The citric acid in the lemons can prevent the formation of stones and break up small stones that are beginning to form. A half-cup (4 ounces) of pure lemon juice per day or 32 ounces of prepared lemonade provide about the same amount of citric acid as does pharmacological therapy for kidney stones.... Lemonade Ingredients cup (4 ounces) of fresh lemon juice A pitcher of cold water Organic stevia or raw honey, if desired. Mix all the ingredients. Add a few ice cubes, if desired. Or make a Lemon or Lime Spritzer if prefer bubbles! Spritzer Ingredients 2 cups fresh lemon or lime juice (from about 9 medium size lemons or limes) a pitcher of cold water Organic stevia or raw honey, if desired. 1 liter chilled sparkling water Mix all the ingredients. Add thin lemon or lime slices, and a few ice cubes, if desired. Stir and chill thoroughly before serving. Do you have a success story with using lemons and lemonade to address kidney stones? If so, please share in the comments below! #kidneystones #kidneystonelemonade

About 13% of men and 7% of women have kidney stones and do not know it until it passes. Kidney stones are not only extremely painful to pass, but can cause kidney damage and block the flow of urine. How do they form?... When the urine becomes supersaturated, crystals can grow into larger stones. This is due to low urine volume, abnormally high concentration or stone promoters, abnormally low concentration of stone inhibitors, or any combination of the above. If the urine is dilute enough to avoid supersaturation, then the crystals will flow with the urine without causing any problems. What can you do to prevent them? Drink a lot of water! About 1/2 your weight in ounces of water daily. Optimal water intake keeps your urine dilute so that kidney stones don’t form. Also, avoid dehydrating foods and drinks like salty snacks, too much protein, sugary treats, alcohol, tea, and ready-made-meals that contain a lot of sugar and salt. If you exert yourself physically and sweat, you will need to drink more water too. Genetics can play a role in the formation of kidney stones. If your family members had kidney stones, it may mean that you can form them more easily, but your management of diet and water consumption is key. If you have passed a kidney stone in the past, you may still have kidney stones and continue to form them if you don’t change your diet and water consumption. Have you had kidney stones? #kidneystones #kidneyhealth

Do you know how important your kidneys are? Kidney function is not usually addressed until it is too late. The main job of the kidneys is to cleanse and purify the blood. You can think of them like a pool pump filter that filters the pool water that flows into the pump and then pumps the filtered water back into the pool. In your body, theblood carrying by-products from the liver flows into the kidneys where the toxins are filtered out, and then urine is excreted into the... ureters and clean blood goes back into the body. The millions of small blood filters (glomeruli) in the kidney work together to clean the blood 24/7. The kidneys manage the electrolyte balance, acid-base balance, and blood pressure. For example, if you eat too much sodium, the kidney will remove the excess sodium the body doesn’t need to maintain equilibrium in the body. If the kidneys are not functioning properly, then you will have symptoms relating to increased toxins and poor electrolyte, acid-base balance, and high blood pressure. Stay tuned this week to learn more about these important detox organs, how to assess their function, and what you can do to support their optimal function. #kidneyhealth #kidneystones

Many of you know that I became a naturopathic doctor because of my lifelong battle with eczema. For over a decade, I went on a transformational journey to uncover the root-cause of my eczema and become completely symptom-free. I am happy to announce that I will be sharing my story and my protocol to address the root cause of eczema at the the ECZEMA FREEDOM Summit: Naturally Ditch the Itch, Explore Root Causes to Be Eczema Free, and Love the Skin You’re In! In this summit, ...Desiree Lawn from @autoimmunehealthfreedom interviews experts, like myself, about their experience with getting to the root cause of eczema. The interviews are REAL, short, and to the point CONVERSATIONS about 20 minutes each with hand-selected experts. The interviews are short to ensure that you get something useful, practical, and impactful in every interview. Want to attend? Sorry I’ve been a little MIA lately! I have been busy with our Eczema Case Study Program launch! This is one of our program participants doing her initial interview. The participants were so amazing in their interviews, sharing their daily struggles with eczema and the failed treatments and medications that they have tried. ... The first day was incredibly emotional for me. Listening to their stories brought me back to the times when I used to suffer on a daily basis with inflamed, itchy, oozing, cracked skin. I couldn’t sleep, it hurt to shower, and I was embarrassed to go out and see my friends. As the participants shared their stories, I could hear the same pain and agony that I felt when my eczema was at its worst. It is a great feeling to know that I have conquered my eczema, and am now able to support others in their journey to becoming #eczemafree! The participants had their first visit, and they are starting Step 1: Clean it up & Build a Strong Foundation. They will be assessing and cleaning up their toxin exposures and building a strong foundation comprised of a healthy diet and daily regimen. They are getting labs done to assess organ system health, gut health, and heavy metal toxicity. I am so excited to support these courageous participants as they start their four month health transformation! Stay tuned! #trulytransform #theczemadoc

Anyone who has eczema knows what I’m talking about. Painful and itchy skin all the time. Difficulty with sleep. Embarrassed to show your skin. Not wanting to look in the mirror at times. Wanting to crawl under a rock and hide. Feeling like you have NO ANSWERS. The struggle was real for me for 30 years of my life. And then I put all the puzzle pieces together and cured my eczema.... I cleared my childhood and inherited traumas. I cleaned up my diet and my environment. I detoxed mercury, addressed candida, healed my leaky gut, and flushed out my liver and gallbladder. And now I’m completely #eczemafree and have been for many years now. People with atopic dermatitis (a form of eczema) are 2X more likely to have depression and anxiety, 44% more likely to have suicidal ideation, and 1 in 3 adults say that it interferes with their relationships and sexual health. There are answers, but the puzzle pieces need to be discovered and then put together to restore health. It’s time to end the #eczemastruggle. If you want to learn more about how I cured my eczema and the Detox Funnel Protocol I developed, check out my FREE masterclass! Come with questions and a pen and paper to take notes! I hope to turn a lot of lightbulbs on for you. LINK IN BIO #eczemaawarenessmonth #theeczemadoc
