Which toothbrush is best? . First, let’s review the main types of toothbrushes out there: . 1. Manual - just your regular $2 toothbrush. You usually get one for free at the dentist! This type works just fine with proper technique. ... . 2. Oral B Electric - this is an oscillating electric toothbrush in which the brush head is round and spins. @goby is a similar, more affordable, brand. . 3. Sonicare - this is another electric toothbrush but this one vibrates. It’s brush head is similar to a regular manual toothbrush but the Sonicare is usually slimmer. @burstoralcare is similiar toothbrush worth checking out. . 4. Wannabe Electric - this is like a Manual toothbrush but with a little help. Although it might be advertised as an electric toothbrush, it actually vibrates at much slower speeds. I’ve heard of these toothbrushes being called hybrids. I consider @quip a wannabe electric toothbrush. . Most of the time, it’s not the TYPE of toothbrush that matters, it’s the motion and amount of time spent brushing (most adults need about 2 minutes). . So which is best? It depends! It truly depends on your own teeth, gums, dexterity, plaque level, and your personal preference. For my patients, I’ll make recommendations based on what I see. . What are you all using out there? What’s your favorite? . #healthysmiles #oralhygiene #stocktonca #stocktondentist #uopacific #newyearsresolution See more

Back to Basics: Toothbrushing 101 . Everyone knows how to get their toothbrush on their teeth but many people don’t know how to brush properly. Here are some key points to remember to keep your teeth clean: . 1. Brush 2x a day: Once in the morning to keep your friends and once at night to keep your teeth. If you’re a midnight snacker, looks like you’ll need to be a midnight brusher too. The most important thing to remember is to keep the food off your teeth for long periods... of time. With that being said, to have even better hygiene, brush after lunch as well to keep teeth stronger and your breath smellin’ fresh. . 2. SOFT BRISTLE TOOTHBRUSH ONLY Save your hard-bristles toothbrushes for your kitchen grout. Seriously. I see too much damage being done to teeth and gums from using bristles that are too harsh for our enamel and gums. Imagine using Scotch-Brite to scrub your face? . 3. Gentle Brushing - stop going ham! Create small circular movements or little wiggly motions on each tooth instead of long scouring back and forth motions. Can’t help brushing so hard? Try holding your toothbrush with your fingertips instead of in a fist. . 4. New Toothbrush, New You. Change your toothbrush every 3 months. $3.99 for a pack of 4 at Target and you’ll be set for 2021. . 5. Lastly, brush your tongue. Please. This will help prevent bad breath and help keep your mouth healthier. Imagine all the food and drinks you had during the day soaked up by your tongue much like a sponge. Please clean it. . Bonus Advice: Spit don’t Rinse After brushing your tooth, stop rinsing your mouth out with water. Especially Stockton water. . Hope all this advice helps you or a loved one. Let me know if you want more posts like this and I’ll keep them coming! . #healthysmile #healthylifestyle #stocktonca #backtobasics #newyearsresolution #pearlywhites #oralhygiene #dentistlife #toothbrushing101 See more
