Just knowing that something is benign reassures the patient. Doctors, please treat a patient only for the condition at hand, and only test him for the issue he is concerned most at minimal cost. Why prescribe so much Augmentin, brand drugs, when the public that educated you paid for your expensive education? Patients risked their lives to teach you medicine. For instance, if a patient gets, vertigo, he should rarely have a CT scan of his head or many tests! (Levaquin is not t...he best option for pneumonia, usually. Careful palpation of bone leads you to a minimal fracture. A regular x-ray may miss a hairline fracture. If in doubt, cast and re-image within 10 days. A navicular fracture (over the anatomical snuff box) can lead to legal issues because it's often missed.
