I am sooooooooo blessed and honored to be just a small part of the exhibit It’s Been Said All Along: Voices of Rage, Hope & Empowerment at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the Rock Hall and the ongoing global movements for social justice, this is the largest virtual exhibit in the history of the museum. In addition to a tour of the physical exhibit, which opened at the Hall last month, the virtual exhibit includes rare artifacts and the ...stories behind them, interviews with noted musicians including Chuck D of Public Enemy, commentary from scholars like myself, and even resources for teachers. Just some of the names included in the exhibit include; The O’Jays, Rage Against the Machine, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Kendrick Lamar, NWA, and the Staples Singers. So Pumped Today! I just found out that my first TV show was just nominated for a Southern California Journalism Award by the Los Angeles Press Club in the category of Entertainment News or Reporting. I’m so grateful that my folk at KCET had faith in the vision and trust in me. Our team of Juan Devis, Jac Reyno, Matt Crotty, Justin Cram, the Los Angeles Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, and the entire staff at Wrong Creative made this happen in a way that gave real agency to our subjects and uplifted the beauty of this great music. Look out for the next collaboration.
