@dnvnduelas I’m not sure where my head is at these days. Life has been so turbulent lately, as it has been for all of us. I’ve always compared life to a rollercoaster, but lately I’ve been feeling like I just want to get off the ride for a bit. There’s been so many ups and downs, it’s like I’m getting motion sickness. - Work is the only thing that makes any sense nowadays, and my reenergized focus on hair has been pushing my skills to new heights, as well as providing me ...with new amazing opportunities in return. But at what cost? - Work has been my escape, as of late. A wonderful distraction that keeps me going throughout the day. It gives my mind a break from the hurricane that’s been raging up there. But escaping from my struggles does not make them disappear. And if it’s true that the energy you put into something is what you’re going to get back, then that would mean that at this rate, my mental and emotional state will never get better. I have to face these issues head on. - 99% of people will chalk it up to just finding a balance. But @hey.leche brought up a good point in our conversation. I’m paraphrasing, but he believes that there is no such thing as balance. You can’t multitask, because If you’re balancing 2 different things, you’re half assing both. And if you’re not giving 100%, you’re not really doing it. Which, I sort of agree with too, to an extent... - But now where does that leave me? Do I continue to delve into my work and see where these opportunities lead, despite the turmoil going on in my head? Or do I halt operations, risk losing momentum and opportunities, and focus on fixing myself? - Is there even a right answer? Beats me. But I’m already strapped in, there’s no getting off now. @dnvnduelas Its been a couple weeks now back at work, post quarantine. Now that I’ve had time to reflect on the last few months, despite all of the negativity going on, I can’t help but feel a sense of gratitude. - They say you cannot grow in comfort. You’d think for a natural introvert like me, I’d be in heaven during quarantine. But surprisingly, that isolation started off as one of the most uncomfortable periods of my life. But it forced me to grow mentally. It tested ...and strengthened my ability to look at the brighter side of things, and helped reveal what’s really important in my life. - Quarantine was also an opportunity for me to experience a part of life that I was previously missing out on, which was having that personal time to do the things that I want to do for myself. Whether it be cooking, or even just actually having the time and energy to WANT to clean the house. Little things like that may seem trivial or insignificant, but these were things that were just not part of my reality before quarantine. Before, if I wasn’t working or with friends, I felt like I wasn’t doing anything, and wasting time. Now going forward, I am making a concerted effort to keep placing more value on my personal time. - Like literally everything else, the key is finding a balance. Balancing my home life with my life behind the chair. I thought I had a grasp of it before, but clearly I was mistaken. I’m confident that I will be able to find the balance now. Having lived both sides; the constant grind, and the immediate and mandatory HALT...I think it’s safe to say that I can now identify where the happy medium is. - So as crazy as this may sound...covid, you’re a SOB, but I have to thank you. Your arrival is what allowed me to recognize this. So thank you. Now, go away. - Here’s some shots of a fun project I did on my boy @manumasamune the other day, utilizing the Negative Space Technique that my big sis @sarahoneeleven showed me .
