Downtown Dog Rescue 25.01.2021

A social worker from Skidrow housing trust called our Pet Support Space counselor pleading for help for a mutal client. 5 yr old Napoleon’s owner was taken to the hospital and will be there for the next 2-4 wks. Napoleon was taken to the SLA Shelter but his owner had no way of getting in touch with shelter staff to let them know about her situation. Our counselor was able to speak to the kennel supervisor to let them know situation. Arrangements were made so Napoleon will be safe at the shelter until owner is released from hospital. We will be sure to follow up on Napoleon and his owner. Working together with other service providers to serve the most vulnerable pet owners is our daily goal #becauseweallneedhelpsometimes #petsupportspace #petsandpoverty #skidrow #skidrowhousingtrust #ddr

Thank you for your post Charles Richard Lester a Pet Support Space client who received care for his dogs "We have two pups named Doggie and LoLo. Both have recently needed very expensive medical treatments that we would never have been able to afford. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Downtown Dog Rescue for helping to pay for their treatments. You truly saved their lives. P.S.: Both of them were stray puppies running loose in our neighborhood that we rescued -- Doggie in 2012 and LoLo in 2013."

5 yr old Evee is already neutered and our Pet Support Space counselor sent him to LA Veterinary Center for an exam for possible seizures. His family noticed him randomly shaking, having trouble breathing, and stiffness throughout his body. He looks out of it when it occurs. His family is grateful we wrote a medical voucher for their Evee. Without our help it would have been unlikely that they could afford veterinary care for Evee. Our goal is to make taking a pet to shelter due to an inability to pay for vet care obsolete #becauseweallneedhelpsometimes #petsupportspace #ddr #petsandpoverty #southlosangeles

11 year old Kush was having diarrhea and seizures. His owner called our Pet Support Space office looking for help. They are very low income. Due to the MLK holiday.. most vets were closed or double booked.. thankfully Lynwood Dog and Cat Hospital was able to see him the same day #petsupportspace #becauseweallneedhelpsometimes #petsandpoverty
