Will Sugar Bowl continue to operate? A resounding, yes! This week we received official guidance from the state classifying ski resorts as outdoor recreation. ...Today (12/2/20), Governor Newson issued a Stay-at-Home order; however, outdoor recreation is allowed and even encouraged during these challenging times. With permission to remain open during the Stay-at-Home Order, Sugar Bowl | Royal Gorge plans to continue operating conditions allowing as we maintain our top priority of protecting the health and safety of our guests, staff and community. We are being evaluated every day against state/county guidance and will need everyone’s full cooperation and adherence to our policies to remain open. We ask for your patience as we fully process this announcement and determine if any alterations to our policies and procedures are necessary. In the meantime, we encourage you to read our Winter Covid Guide to learn how we are currently operating responsibly to protect the communities we serve.

Finger cross for another big snow year!

After a successful opening weekend of cross country skiing for season passholders, Royal Gorge is suspending midweek operations. It was wonderful hosting our pa...ssholders on the trails for the last three days, but unfortunately, the warm temps over the weekend have taken their toll on portions of the trail network. To preserve the snow, we have decided to halt midweek grooming operations, which would otherwise reduce the snowpack further. During the week, our team will work to piece the trails back together with hopes of getting you on the snow again next weekend. We will keep you posted. We look forward to when we can reopen Royal Gorge again. In the meantime, stay tuned for updates... and THINK SNOW!

Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows opened early yesterday with seven lifts, 28 trails, and great skiing on and off piste. They are the third ski area in north Truckee-...Tahoe to open for the season, joining Northstar California Resort and Boreal Mountain.
