Just in case you missed our latest newsletter, we spotlighted the ever-fabulous Active 20-30 Club of Red Bluff #455 and its members' passionate shift to KEEP TRADITION ALIVE. Catch this sweet mini-feature below. #turkeytrot2020 #goodonya #dollinginsurance #communityfirst KEEPING TRADITION ALIVE The Annual Turkey Trot put on by the Active 20-30 Club of Red Bluff has become quite a Turkey Day custom in our area. Couples, families, and friends join together to add a little ...healthy fun to their Thanksgiving morning via this delightful 1 mile or 5K run. Sadly, just like countless other favorite events, this gathering came head to head with the dreaded pandemic this year. However, instead of letting the virus declare victory, the spirited 20-30 Club made a quick shift to keep the tradition alive. Embarking into its fifth year, the 2020 Turkey Trot pivoted to a virtual event. Attendees now have the opportunity to complete the chosen run starting Thanksgiving Day through Sunday, November 29th. The new course weaves through historic Downtown Red Bluff spotlighting local landmarks, colorful Art Alley, and featured businesses along the way. This new "Turkey Trail" offers a little something for everyone. In addition to indirectly supporting downtown business, all registration proceeds from the Turkey Trot will benefit Tehama County's Toys for Tots. This determined club has set a goal of raising $2,000 for the cause. Pretty amazing stuff if you ask us. Just $20 gets you in on all of the feel-good action while scoring you an official Turkey Trot neck gator, water bottle, and a printed map of the course. Peg the fun meter by taking and posting pictures on your social media feeds when you land at sponsor checkpoints. You'll be entered to win a special prize for your efforts. For more information or to register, visit the link below. A sincere shout out to the Active 20-30 Club of Red Bluff for adapting this beloved event to fit the pandemic's parameters. Heaven knows we are all in need of some "normalcy" these days . . . and this forward-thinking crew took the time to find a way to offer some. Thank you, friends. Take a look-see at our latest COMMUNITY FIRST NEWSLETTER. It's brimming with determination, passion, and hope. Yep. This month we are holding onto the "good" to add some much-needed light to this dark period. Keep reading to catch a heartfelt story about THREE new DOWNTOWN BUSINESSES that faced COVID head on to make their dreams a reality. #weHEARTdowntown #communityfirst #dollinginsurance DOWNTOWN DETERMINATION The climate for small businesses these days is unforgiving. ...Industries across the board have endured the constant influx of pandemic changes, restrictions, and shutdowns. Instability is the new name of the game, and livelihoods are on the line. Despite these treacherous and uncertain economic waters, multiple new businesses have emerged from the darkness to add a little extra sparkle to our downtown. These owners defied the odds, faced COVID head-on, and went all-in to make their dreams a reality. Let's start by taking a quick walk just doors down from us. Reiter's Bakery and Confections officially took the block by storm on October 16, 2020. Owned and operated by the talented Rich and Kassie Reiter, their success thus far makes complete sense. United as a couple through their shared love of baking, this duo attended community college together for smaller baking classes before taking it to the next level at The Culinary Institute of America in Saint Helena. Both Rich and Kassie earned pasty degrees and had their sights set on opening a bakery of their own. We just had to circle back around to make sure that you caught our latest mini-feature spotlighting the most AMAZING group of young women. #wortharead #womensupportingwomen #communityfirst #dollinginsurance A NOTEWORTHY YOUTH MOVEMENT Speaking of spotlighting empowering women, one local youth is championing a movement that deserves a closer look. New to the community scene is the Women Supporting Women Organization. The brainchild of Red Bluff High School senior Amber Bl...ack, this inspiring service group was formed to respond to the sudden disconnect, separation, and struggles caused by the pandemic. The mission is simple but so heartfelt and unbelievably genuine to inspire the human spirit that drives our community. Eighteen high school senior women joined forces with Black to support the movement, volunteer, and help make a difference in their community before they graduate. These ladies are always on the hunt for various ways to support residents, businesses, and organizations in our area during these unprecedented times. Through the efforts of small acts of kindness, raising awareness for local businesses and caregivers, and supporting one another in such abnormal times, Women Supporting Women hopes to heal Red Bluff one act at a time, shared Black. One of the group’s first feel-good projects was sending letters of encouragement to local small businesses. This simple act of goodwill resonated with many of the local owners. Kate Grissom of Cedar Crest Brewing fondly remembers receiving this unexpected note during the chaos surrounding the second wave of shutdowns. During these unsettling times, owners experience so many different emotions ranging from frustration to fear, offered Grissom. This heartfelt letter of acknowledgment provided much-needed encouragement. And, the simple knowledge of the formation of this organization and its purpose delivered hope. Women Supporting Women is currently hosting an animal supply and toy drive for the Tehama County Animal Shelter. Donation boxes are available at Sip Coffee Bar, From the Hearth, and Copper & Clay Co. and are already beginning to fill. As we transition into fall, members are volunteering at a handful of upcoming non-profit events. However, these motivated women are hungry for more. If you have ideas, need support, or have an interest in the organization, this team urges locals to reach out. This crew is eager to make lasting connections and serve their community. To contact Women Supporting Women, email [email protected]. We also encourage you to follow this mighty crew on Facebook (Women Supporting Women Group) and Instagram (@womensupportingwomen.rb). Ready for a HARVEST of LOCAL GOODNESS? We are coming to you with our October COMMUNITY FIRST NEWSLETTER and boy is it a doozie. We found two of the most amazing stories of pure passion to spotlight. But you don't have to take our word for it . . . #communityfirst #dollinginsurance THE FRUITS OF HER LABOR The most impressive operation transpires just off of Bowman Road in Cottonwood, California. Countless hours of hard labor, mind-blowing science, and a whole lot of love p...our out of one amazing woman daily. What is the driving force behind this "head-turning" enterprise, you ask? We have two words for you Brandi Greene. Ms. Greene is the talented owner and winemaker at Burnsini Vineyards. Her passion for the biz is downright alluring and genuinely empowering. And, after hearing her unique backstory, you just can't help but taste her devotion to her craft as you sip on her fine wine. Let's start at the beginning. Born and raised in Shasta Lake with an extensive family history of farming and ranching, Greene is no stranger to agriculture. It's this lifeline that served as a massive inspiration to follow her wild dream of owning a winery. After earning a Bachelor's in Fermentation Science and a Post Bach in Environmental Chemistry from Oregon State University, the stars began to align for this hard-working woman. Greene slid into the workforce and climbed her way into a full-time position as a Senior Environmental Chemist at an engineering firm. It's this leverage that opened the door when Burnsini was put up for sale three years ago. She jumped at the chance to keep the beloved area winery in production while supporting local agriculture . . . CATCH THE REST OF THE READ HERE: http://bit.ly/CommunityFirst_OCT2020
