It’s a dachshund delight featuring three regal reds and a Black and Tan beauty. We believe the dachshund silhouette is beautiful. The natural form of their floppy ears, nosey nares, elongated snouts, peekaboo red tongue, bright eyes with hypnotizing gaze, friendly frosty faces and textured cascading fur down their necks; all these parts together equal one big bundle of love and loyalty for life. Lily Blossom update. Lily had her echocardiogram on Friday, and thankfully, we got some good news. No cardiac meds are needed at this time. We’re supposed to monitor and recheck regularly. Additionally, she is eligible for her anesthetic dental cleaning!!! We just have to avoid certain meds, but our local vet believes they can adhere to these avoidances. Lily is seen by our vet regularly so we believe we caught her condition very early. So, it’s only the beginning of this jou...rney, and as of right now, we are good. To recap. Rufus is 16 1/2, and has advance kidney disease. Emily is 9 1/2 and has advanced cloudiness in her eyes; so we speculate she might / may be slowly going blind. Only time will tell. And now, Lily at 7 1/2 has a heart murmur and possible cardiac disease. Official diagnosis: Stage B1 cardiac disease. Thanks to all of our friends for the love and support. Breaking news. Our sweet lovely little nervous nelly Lily Blossom was denied her annual anesthetic teeth cleaning today. Boo. At nearly 8 years old, we discovered she has a heart murmur!!! Instead of a cleaning, tomorrow we return for an echocardiogram. And the good times keep coming. #LaughToKeepFromCrying It was a bit of déjà vu to February 2019 when Rufus was denied his dental cleaning and we had to find a specialist. Explaining to Lily that Thursday morning is her turn to get her dental cleaning. I don’t think she’s impressed. Emily update: Emily had zero extractions on Tuesday; and despite being very drowsy and clumsy from anesthesia, she came through it unscathed. Simply Rufus. Be still my beating heart. I love this dog. Some friends recently shared some information about two senior dachshunds abandoned by their humans. Heart breaking. Caring for a dog during his senior years is such a beautiful gift for both hound and human. I feel like we’re able to give him back a little something after all that he has given us. Make sense?! Emily Sue. I think Emily has put on a little quarantine weight. It’s hard to tell because we’re together all day everyday, but I’m pretty sure she has. I’ll have the vet weigh her next week. Rufus. New normal. When we’re all sitting around the TV with the girls ( Emily & Lily) relaxing for the evening; Rufus can be found in the master bedroom sleeping on a pile of dirty clothes (that we purposefully leave out for him). I miss him being by my side or on my lap, but apparently this is where he is most comfortable these nights. Emily Sue. Today was bath day; and the reds Rufus & Lily seemingly enjoy it - or at least don’t mind it, but Emily! She usually runs in a panic while I’m bathing the others.
