Early onset Alzheimer’s has tripled in 5 years... In 2017 there were 137,000 diagnosed. Over $250 billion per year is spent on taking care of Alzheimer’s / dementia patients. Why is this skyrocketing? What are your thoughts?... https://www.forbes.com//blue-cross-alzheimers-has-triple/

Dave is right on with this one. It's all a matter of perspective.

Curious if your mask is protecting you? Here’s a recent study on their effectiveness on protecting you from aerosolized particles. Seems the only descent mask is still the N95. Even surgical masks let over 50% of aerosolized particles pass through while cotton masks weren’t even tested, possibly due to offering limited protection, if any.... https://jamanetwork.com//jamainternal/fullarticle/2769443

A core principle every doctor should take to heart.

Here's an LA ICU Pulmonologist that discusses the importance of addressing the cytokine storm (overactive immune response) due to COVID19 when treating patients. The result? ZERO ventilators needed. We are all unique in our (health) presentation, especially when it comes to our immune system. This is why you can't apply the same treatment to a person with autoimmunity and to a person without. Give it a listen! I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Nice to see that my home country has included alternative medical care in their insurance model.

Dr. Deborah Birx of the Coronavirus task force references the UK’s recent and rather dramatic ‘downgrade’ of 500,000 to 20,000 deaths in their country. We may very well be dealing with a virus that is very fast-spreading, but far less lethal than originally assumed. In the mean time we will need antibody testing! I’m hoping to be able to ship test kits by April for anyone who wants to get tested.

Best clinical outcomes from the frontline in cases for SARS-CoV2 are incorporating Eastern and Western medicine and including prebiotics, probiotics and other gut support. "Patients with mechanical ventilation should be strictly supervised with cluster ventilator-associated pneumonia prevention strategies. Antimicrobial prophylaxis should be prescribed rationally and was not recommended except for patients with a long course of the disease, repeated fever and elevated procal...citonin (PCT), meanwhile secondary fungal infection should be concerned. Some patients with COVID-19 showed intestinal microbial dysbiosis with decreased probiotics such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium. Nutritional and gastrointestinal function should be assessed for all patients. Nutritional support and application of prebiotics or probiotics were suggested to regulate the balance of intestinal microbiota and reduce the risk of secondary infection due to bacterial translocation." https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32096367/ Zhejiang Da Xue Xue Bao Yi Xue Ban, 49 (1), 0 2020 Feb 21 [Management of Corona Virus disease-19 (COVID-19): The Zhejiang Experience]

My friend Jared Heyman is right on the money on this one: 'This new coronavirus test is a big deal because by measuring antibodies, it can detect if a person has ever been exposed to the virus in the past. We might be undercounting infections by as much as 20x. This would be good news because it means the virus is likely much less deadly and we’re much closer to herd immunity than originally thought. It’s also bad news because public policy decisions (like lockdowns) have bee...n based on shaky data. Lockdowns need to be swift and short-lived just to buy us enough time for more widespread testing without causing excess economic and sociological harm.'
