Our investigation into the sources of a period of instability has concluded. The source was traced to issues in the underlying cloud technology stack linked to a bug in the hypervisor which almost all cloud providers rely upon as their key enabling technology. DocMeIn operates on the cloud servers of Rackspace, one of the premier hosting providers. Unfortunately, this issue resulted in instability of our systems due to intermittent underlying server failures. We apologize to ...all of our users who had suffered service disruptions as a result of DocMeIn downtime in recent weeks. While we moved fast to improve our operational response to disruptions in our underlying cloud server platform, we could not completely insulate our users from them. Friday evening, September 26, Rackspace contacted us with a few details of the issue. We were monitoring our service as the platform received patches, which were completed without incident by 5:15pm PDT today, September 28. Rackspace issued several official statements, including here: https://community.rackspace.com/general/f/34/t/4318. Other cloud providers were similarly affected. For example, Amazon expects to complete their cloud platform patches linked to the same root cause by October 1: http://aws.amazon.com/blogs/aws/ec2-maintenance-update/. We believe that this resolved the most severe disruption we had experienced in our 5-year history and concludes a period of reduced service stability for DocMeIn.
